Spotting in Week 6???

i am 6 weeks today... and yesterday & today i have had real light spotting... kind of freaking me out a little bit. i know most people might say to call my dr., but i cant call yet so i was wondering if anyone else has had this and was everything ok???

i just spoke to my dr yesterday & got my blood work back and my numbers all trippled... but i noticed the spotting after i called them. i dont have my atual dr apt for another 2 1/2 weeks so im a little worried.

My doctor says that though spotting can be normal, it's always worth calling and letting them know how much there is, the color, etc.

What color is the spotting? Brownish means old, pinkish/red not good.

It's probably implantation bleeding.

I started spotting at 5 weeks. I am still spotting now at almost 8 weeks. Baby is fine, and I have seen heartbeat. I just have a pregnancy related friable cervix, but I would let your doctor know. They will probably tell you that as long as it is brown and not heavy you are fine. Just as a precuation always ask.

With my last pregnancy I had spotting at about 6 weeks. They did an ultrasound and it was something called a subchorionic hematoma. The baby was fine but I had to stop working out for a while. Definitely call your doctor.

Exactly! It can be normal. If it's heavy, or some severe cramping I'd worry some more, but if it stops then don't stress...now if your bleeding all day or two days, go in ASAP.

Exactly! It can be normal. If it's heavy, or some severe cramping I'd worry some more, but if it stops then don't stress...now if your bleeding all day or two days, go in ASAP.

Did she do an internal exam or Pap at you appointment? I've also heard that can cause some light bleeding as well. I don't have my first appointment for another few days so i can't speak from experience.

I had this last pregnancy and on Monday with this pregnancy. As long as it's not red and with cramping, it is most likely implantation bleeding. If it becomes worst, always best to call to at least get checked out. I called last pregnancy and felt much better after going in and having the dr tell me everything was fine.

It's always good to call your doctor when you notice changes like this. My OB told me when I was early on in this pregnancy that as long as the spotting wasn't red and heavy, and I wasn't cramping, that it is completely normal. If cramping starts, or the spotting gets worse and red, definitely need to be checked out. Talk to your doc for peace of mind though!

nothing to worry about. i had it too and as soon as i saw it i was like, oh here we go i'm having a miscarriage... but turns out it's totally normal to have spotting, some even have it continuously the whole pregnancy. my dr confirmed everything was fine & that you only need to be concerned if you have a lot of pain and heavy bleeding (like soaking through a pad). of course you should always tell your dr just in case they need to check on anything - but it's nothing to panic about and usually totally normal.

I am about where you are and experienced spotting for an hour last night. The advice nurse told me to go to the ER. I got there and they did a reg ultrasound hoping to see heartbeat didnt see one so they did a pelvic ultrasound and found a faint heartbeat. They sent me home shortly after and said unofficially congrats and don't worry it is fairly normal as long as you aren't bleeding through pads the doctor said if when I asked how much is to much and cause for concern. If you bleed through 3 pads in under 45 minutes to go to the ER. Otherwise from what it sounds like your probably fine but I would still call your doctor if your worried.

I had brown spotting with DS at around 7 weeks, it then turned bright red and was heavy. I naturally assumed I was having a mc. I went in for an u/s and everything was fine. My ds is now almost 9 months old.
