I sure hope so ![]()
I just had a crazy, scary 40 minutes.
I
left the office around 7. It was already dark and just starting to
rain. I have to park a bazillion miles away from my office (and across a
major road) because students park in staff spots. I was walking down
one of the main roads on to campus, across the street from a major
parking area near the library. A girl was pulling out of the parking lot
--at a rather fast speed-- and nailed a biker that was crossing over
the entrance way of the parking lot! So I crossed to street and went to
make sure they were ok. The guy seemed alright, bike frame was destroyed
though. They exchanged info and a cop pulled up.
I went down the street further and crossed the busy street. The side street I was parked off is rather dark and narrow. A car was headed down it, towards the main street, and must have thought it was a one way road because they pulled up to the stop light on the left hand lane, trying to turn left onto the main street. Well, the road isn't a one way road and car turned on to the road and hit the car that was waiting (in the wrong lane) to turn onto the road. It was just a slight [reversed] fender bender.
I got in my car, and was trying to pull out onto the street when a bunch of frat boys exited the house across the street and started running across the street to the parking lot. Again, this street is rather dark and they were just jutting out into the street randomly and a car coming down the road hit one of the boys!
I mean..for real?
Luckily the car was going pretty slowly (since it was now pouring rain) and it was almost like a movie..the car saw the kid in the street, the kid kind of stopped and turned towards the car, put his hands on the hood and the car just kind of bumped him.
Wow. Yeah. Nuts.
(Luckily during the first accident (the biker) a cop was just coming up the road, patrolling, so he stopped. Then another cop was at the intersection for the reverse fender bender (cops are always in that area because it is the edge of campus) and he saw the frat guy get "hit" too.)
Just insane.
You better believe I poured a massive glass of wine when I got home.
Now I'm anxiously waiting for DH to get home---the rain is coming down much harder now
