Re: **Twins & Triplets Check-in**

  • Girl you are so close to the top!!!  How are you feeling?

I am still on BR (i forgot to ask if i just always will be until I deliver..  i read that some people get off BR because they might as well deliver... )

Anyway it is really boring and I am trying to keep my chin up.  I know it is much better than PTL and 100x better than effing IF so that keeps it in perspective. But it is so lonely and i am soooo sore/achy/painful.  The contractions vary from every 5mins to ever 30 mins.  I dont think I have gone an hour without at least 2..  but they just havent been consistent like the day i went into the hospital.

It is nerve wracking though - because I never know.. should i be timing these? will the next one come in a few mins? then what about the next?   Last night I had about 4 in 30 mins and i decided i should chug water and change positions that i was laying and they died down.

I dont have another growth u/s until 10/6...  but at my last one 2 weeks ago they were both 4lbs 15oz ..  so basically 5lbs 2 weeks ago today.  So i am guessing they are maybe like 6lbs each now?

Ok i will stop rambling :)

  • Hi ladies.

Congrats to the new mommas and big ((HUGS)) to those that need them.

Update:  we are 27 weeks 2 days today.  I'm feeling good, but tired and my back is a bit sore.  As of last Wednesday I was up 18 lbs and the babies were 2lbs 5oz and 2lbs 3oz.  I'm struggling with this GD thing.  My numbers are mostly within range but it gets old watching every tiny piece of food you eat, when you eat it, and what your blood sugar might be.  Oh well, you do what you have to do right?  I had my first shower last weekend and my next this Saturday.  I still can't believe I am the person the showers are for!

  • Hey ladies!  Nicole, you're so close!!

((huge hugs)) to everyone that needs them.

This is a XP from my blog:

26 Week Growth Check update: Things went better today. Baby Girl B is still small, but now at least she's proportionate. She's only a little behind her brother and sister now. Her slightly enlarged ventricle in her brain also appears normal now. However, now Baby Girl A's ventricle appears to be slightly enlarged. The doctor said it's not concerning at the moment, because it's only marginally enlarged, but still... Baby Boy is still looking perfect. No signs of PTL. My BP is pretty high, so I have to find like a Walgreens to take my BP on Friday and might be an indication of preeclampsia, but I have zero other symptoms of it. All in all, the doctor was very positive today and I'll count today as a victory. Baby Girl A weighs 1 lb 15 oz, Baby Girl B weighs 1 lb 8 oz and Baby Boy weighs 1 lb 12 oz.

  • So good to read everyone's updates!  Nicole you are so very close!!  Exciting!!

I'm still hanging out on bed rest.  I had a not so great appointment yesterday and had to go from regular bed rest with shower and kitchen privileges to strict bed rest.  I've gone from a fingertip dilated when I left the hospital to 1cm.  I'm also funneling on the inside.  But the babies are now both over 3 lbs so I was so happy to hear that!  If I can just make it to 34 weeks I will be so happy.

  • Congrats to all those with new babies and Ts and Ps to all those that need them.

We had a really good appt last week.  We started with a fetal echo for Baby A, our girl, and her heart is stable (which is good) and we be meeting the surgeon that will be doing the surgery soon.

We then had a growth scan and the good news is that Baby B, the boy, is measuring perfectly and everything looks good.  Baby A, the girl, is still measuring several weeks behind, but is continuing to grow, has not fallen off the growth charts, and is looking much more proportinate.  She's tiny though and the fluid level is on the low end of normal.  We need to her keep growing and then be big enough to have the heart surgery.  Cord blood flow looked good for her and the doctors do not feel like there are any placenta problems.  They said there is still a good chance it's a chromosonal issue or it could just be a smaller baby with a heart defect.

They are all hopeful that I can get to 36-38 weeks with these two and see no reasons why I wouldn't at this point, but are always careful to say that things can change quickly.  I passed my 1hr GD test and my 24 hour urine tests have looked good.  We're going to start weekly monitoring at 32 weeks and we may do another round of steriod shots then since the previous ones at 24 weeks have worn off.

Other than my constant morning/all day sickness, I've been feeling pretty good and actually starting to sleep!  We are almost done with the nursery and I have had one shower 2 weeks ago, another two coming up in a week.  So exciting!

Gosh this got long!  Thanks for reading!

  • Congrats to the new mommies! Glow-my baby B girl has always been smaller too. I wonder if that is common for baby b in trips? Had my first NST on Mon. Everything looked good and I was not having contractions. I will have another one next Fri. I go to the MFM tomorrow for growth u/s. Still have mild pre-e and I have to do a 24 hr urine once a week which is such a pain! My ob thinks these babies could come at anytime but I'm hoping to hold out to 35 weeks at least. As lOng as my BP will behave I can hopefully make it.

  • Congrats to all the new mamas!

I'm plugging along... at my last OB appt at 17.5 weeks, the babies were still measuring a week ahead and were estimated at 9 oz each. I had a slight scare with a mildly elevated AFP from my quad screen, but the boys look good and I've been told MoMs sometimes have higher AFPs for no good reason. Next appt is with the MFM next week for a growth scan.

  • I'm just hanging out on bed rest.  I am looking forward to going back to the doctor on Friday, hoping that they'll let me off bed rest so I can go back to work for a while longer.  Bed rest has been hard, though.. I'm stressing about the money I'm losing by being out of work, and my husband is already feeling overwhelmed by everything that he has to do by himself now--between the regular day-to-day chores and meals, and everything we still need to get done before the babies arrive.  I feel terrible that I can't really help.  But people keep telling me not to feel guilty because I'm doing the important job of keeping these babies in utero.  So I'm trying to keep that in perspective.  And now that I've got a cold, I'm strangely comforted by the fact that I'm at least multi-tasking my bed rest.  = P

  • I can't believe I top the list! I have been in l&d since yesterday. My BP was high at my drs appt and they sent me here for 24 hour urine. Hopefully I will go home around lunch and come back tomorrow for induction! Baby b has turned at the last second so they are going to let me try a vag delivery.
