I am almost 6 weeks and my progesterone dropped slightly with my last beta (which rose well) from 30s to 24. My RE has a protocol of prescribing the progesterone suppositories whenever the progesterone level drops below 25...so I just missed his cut off.
My question is - what are the side effects? I read that a yeast infection is possible....about 3 years ago I had a pretty persistent yeast infection and I never want to experience that again....so any ladies who have experience with suppository side effects, I'd love to hear them!
Re: Question about progesterone suppositories
I didn't end up with any s/e. I was told by my RE though that yeast infections are common.
Be prepared to wear a pantyliner though! They are slightly messy! Good Luck hun!
This! I haven't noticed any side effects except the definite need for a pantyliner at all times. And they've kind of put a damper on my sex life.
The need for a pantyliner and some cervix irritation (with a little tiny bit of spotting).
When I've used them during treatment and had negative results (thus, the s/e were from the progesterone and not a BFP), I've had pregnancy symptoms sometimes but not every time. Things like bloating, sensitive/sore breasts, bloating, etc.
Good luck, hon!

They are just a little messy for me. Drink lots of water to clear yourself out.
Hi there! What kind of supps are you going to use? I've been on Crinone, as my RE strongly prefers it to others. The other cycles on it, ones that didn't work, it was plain miserable. It makes me extremely tired and bloated, and gave me killer cramps. Also (TMI) but beware that it's a MESS, you leak this garbage all day long so a liner is a must, and it makes everything there so desert-dry, s*x is out of the question. I would advise cleaning it out nightly (I do it with q-tips) and while it's beyond gross, it does help with controlling buildup. But this time around, I haven't had many s/e other than the dryness and grossness factors, and being pregnant makes it a lot easier to put up with that (mentally anyway). Only 12 more days of it for me, if God willing, everything goes by plan. Btw, 3 years ago I too had an yeast infection that wouldn't die, but fortunately no recurrences since using Crinone.
How are you feeling in general? did you have your first US yet?

When I first started them I felt a little run down and sore but after a couple days I didn't have any other s/e besides the mess. I ended up using pads because the panty liners just weren't cutting it!
Hi! They put me on Endometrin. I read the packet in the box and it said that there was a chance of birth defects, so I called my RE to ask about it. They told me that there is always a risk, and that the benefit outweighs the risk. Have you heard this?
I am feeling great other than sore boobs and some random m/s. So far the mess has been managable. I asked if my proges goes up would they take me off (because it was only low once and I know that it is variable). they said that once I am on it, I am on it for weeks.
How are you feeling?
Oooh, it seems like Endometrin is better - I really think you'll be ok. My RE wasn't concerned about birth defects or anything else really, so I am just going to go along with it. I only have to do it until 8 weeks.
Physically I feel fantastic, not a single symptom. Mentally very worried and not enjoying any of this so far. I am very, very scared of losing this pregnancy so I question everything from beta numbers to this lack of symptoms. More bloodwork tomorrow, praying that it won't be bad news.

I'm also on endometrin and this is the first I've heard of the birth defects risk. Eek! Maybe I should have read the packet too! I'll have to ask my OB about it.
However, I'm pretty sure I would have miscarried by now if it weren't for the supplements... so I guess the benefit does outweigh the risk. Scary though!
I know how you feel - I worry everytime a symptom decreases, I had some m/s last week but not much this week. My betas were good tuesday, so that made me feel better. I get more betas on friday. Try not to stress, I know it isn't easy.
A friend of mine said, well now that you're pg you have to patient. man, was she right!
