Because we're fancy like that.
A lot of people are successful with their first IVF, but I'm not one of them. It took us 2 full rounds of IVF with 2 FETs, for a total of 4 embryo transfers.
Good luck!
Started TTC 05.08
Me: Stage II endo, borderline high FSH
DH: perfect
1 lap, 5 IUIs = 4 BFNs and 1 c/p
2 IVFs, 2 FETs = 1 BFN, 1 c/p, 1 ectopic and finally a sticky BFP in May 2011!
1 FET in Aug 2013 = BFP!
This was us too - but just wanted to wish you luck~! Lots of people find success on the first try!
Thanks for all the uplifting stories and comments. We are clearly aware that it might not work, but we are feeling more hopeful about this one than any of our 3 iuis.
Thanks again and I'll keep you posted!!

I was also fortunate to not have a terrible time either with the stimms or the recovery. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a picnic, but all in all, it wasn't that bad. I would psych myself out about it not working, etc, and then DH would remind me that there were still plenty of people for which it did work--why couldn't we just as easily be one of them?
Good luck tomorrow for your ER! And remember, your wife needs to drink TONS of gatorade or V8 and eat high sodium foods like chicken noodle soup!

It happens! IVF worked for us on the first try (twins on the way). Plus we still have frozen embryos if need be.
I was pretty sore for a few days after the retrieval, and (you might not want to tell her this now) my ovaries stayed that big for a long time after. Just be ready for her to still feel uncomfortable.
Other than that, good luck!
My 2nd IVF worked for my son
My 1st IVF worked for my daughter
2 adorable faces for you to see - it really does work- they are my IVF miracles!
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again
After 2 failed IUIs, our 1st IVF cycle worked for us ! I had over 30 follies that were measurable but they were only able to retrieve 12 mature eggs. Of those 12, only 5 fertilized. We did a 3dt of 2 embryos (1 embie died off before day 3 & the other 2 didn't make it to freeze). I know it's hard but try not to get discouraged with the #'s. It's all about QUALITY, not QUANTITY.
Good luck !!!

I got KU with the trips (2 embies) on my second IVF attempt. My first attempt was an unfortunate series of events that was really rare. I also previously went through 4 failed IUI + meds cycles.
GL to you and your DW!

Baby Evangeline is here!
1st IVF cycle was successful for us.
OP- I see you received sperm from Fairfax donor bank, do you happen to go to Shady Grove?
You have good reason to be more hopeful...IVF success rates are much higher than IUI. Again best of luck to you guys!!!
Hey do yo go to Shady Grove? I'm a Shady Grove graduate!
