I'm not pro-flu shot at all. DH has been getting it because he is the only one working outside the home. BUT...this year since Evan has speech and OT coming in - we should think about it for the rest of us.
I've never had the flu so I think that affects my decision. Evan had the flu last year - well I think he did anyway. But I'm still on the fence about putting those metals in their bodies.
This is me too! I'm totally not pro flu shot at all! I've only had it once and that was probably 4 or so years ago. DH has never had one and T has never had one. I'm not sure what we'll do this year with having a late fall baby. I may just get one this year in hopes of passing some immunity onto baby #2 through my BM (if BF all goes well). DH and T will still be staying home, but we're hoping to sign T up for some weekly play groups, so I don't know what we'll do about her.
Last year (pg with the twins) was my 1st flu shot so that it would "go to the babies" in case they ended up being preemies. Like exactly 1 week later I had flu-like symptoms and was totally bed ridden sick for almost 2 weeks. I have never been so sick in my life. I was up all night coughing, couldn't breath, fever, headache, runny nose... I wanted to cut my head off. It was just too strange a coincidence for me with the shot- NEVER again.
The baby can't get it this year, so me, DH and Rosie will get flu shots. With Rosie in preschool, I don't want to risk him getting the flu. I've gotten the flu shot for many years, and have never had a problem.
DH and I already got ours, and the girls will go this week for theirs. The flu affects LOs so much harder than adults, and with Chelsea in preschool now I don't want to take the risk that she or Molly would come down with it. I've gotten the flu shot every year since high school and I've never had any side effects other than a little bit of soreness at the injection site. DH has been getting them since we met 7 yrs ago and he's never had an issue either. Chelsea has gotten them every year, Molly got hers last year, and both girls haven't had any issues either. So, with that track record it is a no-brainer for me.
I get it every year, and so does DS. DH has always been more lazy about it. He did get it the first winter after DS was born because the pediatrician strongly encouraged it. He's also horrible about going to the doctor and dentist unless it's absolutely necessary, even though he really should go to both.
I will be getting the flu shot. I do every year. DH is against them and against DD getting them. Like I have posted before, I have to pick my battles. So, since DD is not in daycare or school yet, I won't push. Once she hits preschool though, I will start having her get them.
