Pregnant after IF

XP: MA fertility clinics

I am currently in an IVF cycle where we transferred 2 morulas, because none of my 9 embryos grew larger.  I am preparing for the worst (that is how I handle stress) and I am looking into a few other clinics.  I am currently at Boston IVF and have had three failed IUIs and two (possible 3 failed) IVFS.  The clinics I am looking at are all about 40-50 minutes away with no traffic.   It will be more difficult to get to any of them but their SART scores are better.  Boston IVF has a 40.3 for '09.

Here is what I am looking at:

Brigham & Womens (SART 46.1 (09) 49.4 (08))

Mass General (SART 55 (09) 58 (08))

Cardone (SART 50 (09) 48.6 (08))

If you have any info/feedback I would greatly appreciate it!

  • I went to Mass General. I loved the staff and they were always helpful & willing to work with me. I'm not sure what location you are looking at going to (Boston or Danvers) but just an FYI: even if you do all your monitering appts at one of their other locations, they only do ERs/ETs in Boston. It actually isn't too difficult to get to since there is a Red Line (?) stop right across the street. We had to take the train in for my ER, due to it being that huge @ss blizzard in Jan. We drove in for the ET, though. All my appts (sans ER/ET) were in Danvers so I know a lot more about that location. If you have any questions about that one, feel free to ask !

  • Ugh, I am so sorry you are not having luck with Boston IVF.  Boston IVF was my second clinic and I had a really good experience there (but it did take me a failed IUI, 4 failed IVFs, and a failed FET before I had success with them).  I saw Dr. Alison Zimon out of the Quincy office and she is fantastic.

That all being said, I strongly believe that you have to be comfortable in your care and feel like you have a doctor working with you.  I am a big believer in getting a second opinion.

I started out a Brigham & Women's and left b/c I felt like my doctor there was just following a standard procedure and not taking into consideration the facts of my case.

If I were you, I'd definitely meet another doctor or two to see if there is someone better for you.  Another option would be to try to see another doctor at Boston IVF.  And, one final option, after my 3rd failed IVF cycle, I asked my doctor to present my case at a monthly meeting of all REs at BIVF to get opinions from the other doctors on what changes could be made.  (In the end, this made a huge difference for me!)

Good luck wherever you end up.  At the end of the day, it is most important to have confidence in the doctor/clinic in charge of your care.  All that being said, hopefully you won't even need to look into second opinions b/c I hope you get your BFP in the coming weeks!!!

  • I went to Brigham Womens and had a good experience there.
There first doctor I saw (for my fresh, and FET#1), wasn't my favorite. I switched to Dr. Ash*y for FET#2 and absolutley loved her - I literally can't say enough good things about her.

Similar to what Mrs. Mo was saying, ER and ET all take place in Boston. But I am almost certain you can do the majority of your monitoring at satellite offices - if I remember correctly, they have one in Foxborough area, one up on the NH border, one around Chestnut Hill area...

Overall, I was impressed with them as a clinic and most people I met there were great. I did look at switching to MGH for FET#2 based on the better SART scores, but once I found Dr. A, I stayed there.

Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions.

i second this. I didn't get to IVF but I had a great experience at RSC with Dr. Glatstein. I called him "The Wizard" because we never really saw him but the nurses were professional, curtious, informative, helpful and sympathetic. When we got our BFP, Dr. Glatstein himself called me after hours to say congratulations.

I would recommend them to anyone.

  • I went to Brigham (Weymouth location) and saw Dr. Yanushpolsky.  I have nothing but nice things to say about her and the rest of the staff at Brigham.  We had 3 failed IUIs but our 1st IVF 3dt of 2 5 cell embies worked.

All my monitoring appointments were done in Weymouth but ER/ET were done in Boston.
