Eating solids

Please share with me your experience of introducing solids. Ds has hypotonia and reflux (treated with prevacid). He seems so uncomfortable sitting upright in his highchair even though he is very secure, so we tend to attempt to feed him in a slightly propped up boppy. He will take .5 to maybe 2 oz max of solids once or twice per day and that's it. I'm just wondering how solids went for others.

Re: Eating solids

  • my son also has hypotonia but did not have the reflux issue.  we used his bouncy/vibrating seat when he was small before we started eating in the highchair.  even with the highchair we still use it on the slight recline. we also fed him in a sitting position in our arms.  i know this is a big no no to most practitioners but it worked for us and he was no worse for wear.

solids took a while for us.  it was a matter of getting his tongue, etc in the right place.  so it took us longer to get into solids that most.  keeping at it is key.  even if our son didn't take a lot, we still tried.

your son sooo cute! i love his little legs :)
