My fiance is of Arabic descent and one of my favorite Arabic girl names is Layla. A lot of the girls from Jordan spell it differently. I'm really liking Laila instead, but I don't want to be one of those women who purposely spell their childrens' names wrong. Do you think Laila is too out there? And, do you think people would pronounce it 'LIE-la' instead of 'LAY-la'?
Re: Laila or Layla?
1. leila

This.
Definitely Layla.
I like Leila, but I have a friend with that name who pronounces it "Lee-la," so to me that spelling could lead to confusion, too.
If you want the straight-forward, no guessing approach, Layla is the best option.
