What do you want to do this fall before it gets really cold/snowy?
I love fall activities - I don't want to miss out on any pumpkin picking, apple picking, hay rides, cider, cider donuts! We started doing a bunch of that stuff this weekend, and I want to make it out to some of the places in Schoharie to support their businesses (orchard/pumpkin patch). Also I want to get back up to the Great Escape, and do as many Halloween events we can find (in past years we have missed some because they start pretty early). Originally we were going to try to camp out again in Sept or early Oct, but it might be too cold
Not child related - I want to do a lot of trimming of stuff around the yard, I was behind last year because DH was in school but I want to get back on track (because then some of my bushes got bent/broken under the weight of snow/ice).
Re: What is your fall "bucket list"?
Definitely apple picking (we're going Oct 2), pumpkin picking at Liberty Ridge (I think we'll go when DH's brother and his fiancee are here from CA), and getting our garden 'winterized'. Oh and of course planting some mums out front.
I really wanted to go to Taste of the North Country in Glens Falls this Sunday, but DH is running a half marathon that day in Schroon Lake.
I also wanted to go to the balloon festival in GF Saturday, but we have a birthday party to go to that day.
Other than that, I want to just get out as much as possible, maybe go on a farm tour...there is one that comes to the Schenectady Greenmarket that we want to check out.
Apple and pumpkin picking (we go to Bowman's in Rexford) . Playing on their playground, and ingesting sickening amounts of cider and donuts is all part of the day! We'll be doing that over Columbus Day weekend. It's an anniversary ritual.
Hoping to buy and plant mums outside this week. The farmstand near us has some really nice ones and are pretty reasonable, but I'm waiting to see what color the ones that grew back from last year are.
Definitely need to try to winterize our screened-in porch this year. Each year we talk about covering it with some type of insulation (oh, I can't wait until we can someday afford new siding and windows ::sigh::), but it always seems to snow before we get to it. Also, I want to lay the rest of the brick pavers that have been sitting around since we built our paver patio 4 years ago. We had a bunch left over, and DH has a plan, but we never seem to get around to doing it. Maybe we'll be able to cross that off this weekend!
I swear, this is the year we are going to go to the corn maize. It's less than 2 miles from my house and we've never been.
Also, I want to take the kids apple picking. Hopefully I can find a place and make that happen.
We will be going apple picking Oct 1st. Lots of apple cider and donuts.
Then its home to make apple crisp and have it for dessert with ice cream. We do it every year.
Id like to do a corn maze this year.... have to find one. (Im newer to the area)
