December 2011 Moms

I'm not THAT big...

I swear if one more person tells me I look like I'm having twins or acts surprised when I tell them I not due til December I will slap them.  :( I'm not that big, I've only gain 8 pounds.  It's just that all of those 8 pounds are baby belly. *end emotional rant*

  • I got my first "you look like your almost their" comment yesterday from one of my patients. I told her I was due in december and she said "oh" and looked away. Sad I think I'm still really small for almost 30 weeks.

  • People have no idea what a pregnant woman really looks like!  I think they see the tiny celebs and think that's normal.

Don't worry - you look great.  Don't let people's stupidity upset you!

  • If someone feels the NEED to comment...why can't they ever say

"Damn girl...looking good!" And actually make it sound like they mean it

THIS!  Happened to me at Wegmans last night...Cashier said, Better check you out quick before you have that baby on line......my response was...if it takes you 2.5 months to check me out I think you are the one with the problem!  She thought it was funny, didn''t even really get it

  • I have a rant from the other end... If someone else tells me that I look too small I might smack them. I think they mean it as a compliment, but I immediately get defensive - Baby is growing on track and my doctor is fine with my weight gain. Why can't people just say, "You look happy?"

  • Seriously- I had two different people over the weekend comment about how "huge" I am--um, thanks, that makes me feel awesome! One lady asked me if I was having a boy or a girl, and when I said boy, she said, "Oh, I thought so- he's gonna be HUGE!!" Then another lady asked when I was due, and when I told her early Dec, she looked shocked and was like, "Oh, wow, I thought you were almost ready to pop cause you're so big!" People are a-holes....

This is how I feel. I have a very small bump and look like I'm 4 months pregnant (when I'm almost 6). I get upset and defensive because I start to think there's something wrong with the baby. I want to tell them, "Look, I can't make my belly grow. Deal with it." I do wish I had a bigger bump but there's nothing I can do about it.

ALL this! I am getting tired of people telling me I'm not very big. I mean c'mon, It's my first pregnancy and I'm 5 foot 10 inches. I have alot of torso to fill and baby is measuring just fine. Sorry I'm not what you expected, I am healthy and happy. Next time compliment on that!

  • I have been getting comments on both ends of the spectrum. Some people can't believe that I'm really due in three months and others think I'm huge. Everyone is so different with pregnancy that I think that there really isn't a "normal" size. No one is shaped alike so I don't see why we should all suddenly have the same size bump based on how far along we are. Also our babies are all growing at slightly different rates. Each time I've gone in for an ultrasound they try to give me a new due date. Tongue Tied The doctor just said not to listen to the techs as long as it isn't different by a week or more from the original due date we'll just stick with it. (At first I was measuring small and now I'm measuring ahead).

  • I am right there with you.  I have only gained 4 pounds, and my co-workers keep telling me I am huge and am I sure there are not twins and so on and so on.  The only weight I have gained is all in my belly so it may look bigger but there is only ONE!
  • Last week this guy in my office told me I looked like I was ready to pop and when I told him I still had three months left he said I must be carrying a linebacker.

Then today, the same guy said I looked bigger than I did on Friday.  Gee thanks. Tongue Tied

  • I get this every time I see my mother.  It makes me not even want to see her because she always goes on and on about how big I am and she can't even believe I have over two months to go.  Then she proceeds to rub my belly for just a few seconds too long-yes I know you're my mother but stop rubbing my belly it gets a little creepy.

It drives me crazy and makes me feel self conscious that my own mother thinks I'm a fat a$$.  The weird thing is that no one else makes these comments to me.  She did the same thing to my sister.
