I'm scheduled to begin Jury Duty on Monday, but I got put on call-in status for now. I've never experienced this before and don't really know anyone who has either. I'm wondering if I am told to report if I will be able to pump while I'm there. I exclusively breastfeed my son and need to pump a certain amount during the day in order for him to eat the following day, but I'm not sure the rules/laws/logistics around this.
Anyone else experienced this? Have any information? I may just try to call the jury office and ask but wondered if anyone has first hand knowledge of it first.
TIA!
Re: XP: Jury Duty question
What county are you in? I had jury duty in Hennepin County (before DD was born) and they had us spending most of the day in a large on-call room, and there was not a lot of opportunity to leave the room.
That said, for something like pumping, I would think they'd have to accommodate you the same way an employer would. I'm sure the jury duty system accommodates medical conditions, and BFing should be treated the same. They should have a hotline or something - I'd call and explain when you're going to need to pump and for how long. They may just end up dismissing you because you're too much of an inconvenience for them.
I'd be curious to find out how they handle it - post an update once you know!
