I have decided that instead of buying our friend's kids gifts, and our 13 nieces and nephew gifts, that Ill give a family gift for the holidays. The only idea that I have so far is some pancake molds and syrup.
Have any other ideas that can span the ages?
Re: Best family gift?
Depending on the ages and your budget we like to do "experience" gifts.
We've done things as extravagant as ski weekends and as mellow as bowling alley gift certificate.
My now 16 yr old has forgotten what toys he's gotten each year but can sit and tell you every single "experience" we've shared thanks to holiday gifts.
Some ideas:
theatre tickets
indoor sky diving
scuba diving (in the pool at a local shop but he thought it was the coolest thing ever)
paint ball
go cart racing
The #1 thing that kids say they want as they reach their teen years is more attention and time with their parents (despite the fact that they act like it's the last thing in the world that they want)
For the younger set what about things like a zoo membership or children's museum membership?
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
* museum tickets
* theater (movie or live) tickets
* tickets for some activity (horseback riding, river rafting, painting pottery, etc.)
* magazine subscription
* Netflix gift (you can go for a few months or up to a year, streaming or DVD rental)
* restaurant GC
* Games -- board or wii or such
DD -- 5YO
DS -- 3YO
Thanks for the ideas. I am thinking more of younger kids and I like the experience, although I don't want it to be a one time thing. Id rather get something like a game that they can keep enjoying. Maybe nice stuff for cookie decorating? Movie tickets are great though, that will go on my list.
Thanks!

I love these two beautiful children!
Oh.... sad. To each their own. DS LOVES to help in the kitchen and this would be a really fun gift for him (and I think his cousins would love it too!). We don't have zoos and such around us to get passes to. Sadly. I wish that we did. A good pitching machine might be good for one cousin. Thanks for the thoughts.
