Tried Ferber this weekend

It went really well. DD has always been a pretty good sleeper, up until about a month ago. She went from waking once a night to every 2-3 hours. She was going to sleep no problem, but the only thing that seemed to quiet her down was nursing when she woke in the middle of the night even though I never really nursed her to sleep (DH gives her a bottle before bedtime)

Anyway, Friday night she went to sleep around 7:30. I went out for dinner with a girlfriend (I know, I cheated) but DH said she woke about an hour after she went to sleep. He let her cry for 3 minutes, then he went up and soothed her and she went back to sleep immediately. She woke again around 1am and went back to sleep basically a couple minutes after DH's first visit (I was afraid if I went in she'd want to nurse). We basically said if she wakes up after 4am, I'll feed her because at that point she will have gone without food for 9 hours and I figured she might be hungry. She woke at 4:45 and I fed her and she went right back to sleep until 8am.

Saturday, she woke up around midnight and cried for a few minutes but put herself back to sleep before we even went in there.

Last night, she was in her crib at 7:45. She cried pretty hard a few minutes after DH put her down awake, but we let her CIO for 5 minutes and DH went up and after that she was out for the night! I had to wake her at 7am so I could nurse her before I went to work. I don't normally do that, but I was worried she'd wake up starving and DH wouldn't have time to feed her before daycare.

All in all, I'm happy with our experience so far. I was watching her on the monitor and she's definitely learning how to soothe herself with her thumb. She's also finally learned how to get onto her side comfortably. She's been working on that for weeks but could never seem to stay on her side when she fell asleep and I think that was waking her up when she would roll onto her back. Now, she sleeps soundly on her side and I think she's much more comfortable. Yay Ferber!
