  I don't think where it was, or what kind of a job they did as hosts, is relevant.  What's more important is giving a gift that shows your gratitude for their effort and friendship.  I'm a fan of any gift that shows you really know your hosts.  If they aren't drinkers, don't give them a wine basket.  If they don't like mani pedis, a spa gift certificate would be silly.  Do whatever you think they like.

  Ditto WeddingBells.  They are your friends, you know them.  What do they like?  What would they appreciate?  What are their interests?  Get something they would love, it doesn't have to be the same thing for both of them.

  Yeah, I don't think how much they spent matters because that was their choice as hostesses.  And you are about to have a baby, so you have plenty to spend $ on already.  Give them something that would be special to them, and that will be perfect

  When I need inspiration I just go on to Etsy to look for ideas. They always have personalized things (braclets, etc). I would think that  personalized piece of jewelry in a style you know they would like plus a gift certificate for something they'd like would be sweet.

  Great ideas. You could always get them an Amazon gift card or something like that.

  I wanted to get something that was specific to what my hostesses liked, but also similar to each other.  I have 4 hostesses for my shower next week.  I looked on Etsy.  There is so much to look at.  For my SIL who is a big wine drinker, I got a personalized wine glass and will probably either buy a bottle of wine or gift card to winery/wine shop.  My other SIL is big hot tea drinker, so I got personalized travel tea mug and gift card to Teavana.  MIL always has insulated cup with drink, so I got one personalized (still need to decide on a drink to include with it).  And other SIL is always on the go, so I got her a personalized insulated travel mug (and still need to figure out drink for her).  I could spend hours on etsy!

  I would get them something significant if they spent a lot on your shower. I think the cost does matter, they could of thrown you a cheaper shower but they did not more then likely because of what your friendship means to them. As far as you having a baby and having a lot of expenses coming up, I am sure they have lots of financial obligations in their own lives and choose to make you a priority.

  Etsy is an awesome site that has everything......and it would be much more personal to give tem a handmade gift.
