Yeah, we taught ML about a year ago. I can't remember why... some news story made me anxious about it, so I taught her how to use the regular cordless phone (you have to turn it on, which she didn't realize). I unplugged the phone so she could dial without actually dialing. I probably need to do a reminder course.
We also have bolt locks on our front and back doors, operated by a key only, which would be difficult for her, so I showed her how to get out of the house through the garage.
Yes. In fact, I still have it written down where he can grab it (It also has our address and other info on it--that way at the very least he could spell it out if he couldn't remember any of it.). I don't think he needs the written sheet any more, but it would still be nice for him to have.
We went over it about a year ago but we should definitely do a refresher course since my 4yo is old enough to learn it now, too. Teaching them on the home phone is a good idea and both our cells are different than they were last year.
We haven't done it yet, although Julia's pediatrician mentioned it at the 4 year well visit. I have to teach her how to make a call on my cell phone since we don't have a house phone, so that adds an extra layer of complexity. We haven't bothered teaching her our home address since we moved here in June and will move out again next June when DH graduates.
I have been thinking about it. I need to, but I need to figure out first how to explain to him what an emergency is and when to use it, so next time I am taking a shower and he needs some milk 911 does not get a call.
I was alone with the kids one night and had an excruciating headache. My hysterical hypochondriac brain worried that it was an aneurism so I made a list of important phone numbers (911, g-parents, neighbor) and wrote them on a paper that I taped to my dd's wall. She was a little over 5. I also had to make sure she knew how to use the cordless phone, which works like a cell phone (where you have to dial the numbers and push send and then end).
Yes. I've been working with him as well to learn our address. He knows the majority of it (like our street name) but forgets our actual address. We only have cell phones, so he has mine memorized, but not DH's.

They talked about it in preschool last year, so DS knows what it is. I don't think he knows how to dial it though. I am working on having him practice dialing a phone to call us, if he needs to. He knows our phone number (to a song), but apparently that doesn't translate to him being able to know what numbers to dial, so we have some work to do.
Re: Does your 5 year old know how to call 911?

Apparently, since he did it on an old cell phone last week.
When asked, he says that the number is 991, so clearly he needs some work.
