Top and bottom teeth - Please help

I am slowly going crazy over here. T just got one of her top teeth in and is getting 3 more. She keeps grinding her top tooth on her bottom teeth and it makes the most horrific noise. I've always been sensitive to this kind of stuff and it is a million times worse than nails on a chalkboard.

I realize that there is probably nothing I can do,  but on the off chance someone has a brilliant idea, I'm posting. Hopefully someone can save me from going insane.

  • I would give H his bink or something to chew on...Although it only worked 1/2 the time!! It is something they out grow i think H took about a month or so. Its just a new sensation for them & one you can't take away ;) Hang in it does get better!!

  • Well she doesn't take a binky, but it is good to know that it might now last long!

  • You all are giving me the shivers just thinking about teeth grinding. LO just cut her first top tooth, so it won't be long until I'll be joining your ranks of annoyance.

  • Finn ground his for a couple weeks but the novelty seems to have worn off now.

  • Lil D has 8 teeth, and grinds them constantly.  I can't stand that noise. He thinks it's hilarious...me not so much.
  • When DD does this I gently squeeze her cheeks to make her stop. It doesn't hurt her, it's just a little annoying for her. She gets aggravated but she has nearly stopped doing it since we've been doing that.

  • J grinds his teeth for a few days every time he gets a new tooth.  It's normal.  You could try giving her something to put in her mouth or just distracting her by making her clap or wave, just something to get her attention.

Clapping and waving is another story - we don't do either one.

  • DS was doing this. Fortunately it only lasted for about 3-4 days and then he was done. The only thing I can suggest is a binky/paci or teething toy or something else for you DD to chew on to relieve the pain.

  • My DD doesn't take a paci either, but I give it to her to chew on. I also make sure her lovie is around always so she can chew on it (instead of my shirts). Just watch your fingers because those teeth are f-ing sharp!

Omg...you aren't kidding!!!!  I stuck my finger in DD's mouth to get something out and she bit my finger!  I had teeth marks for almost an hour!

Funny though, she has 8 teeth and I never noticed her grinding them.  Although she did go through a phase where she tried to chew on all wood furniture.  Maybe that was in place of teeth grinding?
