Im prone to them so I know its coming....only a matter of time. But I still want to try everything I can to make the appearance not as noticable. Any suggestions?
Change your genetics? After your baby is born you can try the creams that help even skin tone/reduce darkness. But I don't think anything will help while you are pregnant.
Just because you have stretch marks from other things doesn't mean you'll get them while pg. I got stretch marks on my hips and boobs when I was about 12 years old. I figured I'd be doomed in pg but I didn't get any new ones at all. GL.

It's not so much about avoiding the stretch marks, but staying hydrated, both inside and out. Drink plenty of water, and use a moisturizer on your belly after every shower, at least.
A lot of people say nothing can be done, but that's not true! i had some stretch marks on my hips so i was worried, and got the bio oil. i have been putting it on my stomach every day, and also on my previous stretch marks on my hips. They're so much lighter and almost gone, and i havent got any on my stomach.
my midwife also said if you eat a lot of sugar, that can help with getting them, so avoid that as much as you can as well.
Little known remedy, but it's worked wonders for me - Noxzema. This is generally used as a face wash, but my Mom used it through 5 pregnancies to prevent stretch marks, and it's been working for me, too. It even made some that were just starting to appear go away - give it a try!!!
Re: Any suggestions for avoiding/treating stretchmarks?
Lots of water and exercise helps with skin elasticity, and lotion helps keep the skin moisturised, but other than that it is up to genetics.
I did find that the stretch marks I had from weight gain did minimize as I lost weight from exercise and I used bio oil as well.
I believe it helps, but you can't completely avoid them if you are genetically inclined.
I was told its genetics. You can use lotions or oils to soften the scars but its not going to make them go away.
I have tons of them!
Best post of the day!
I got them around 12 as well when I hit my growth spurt so I assumed I would get them during my PG. Keeping my fingers crossed!

It keeps you from scratching yourself in public!
