Just curious why you decided to spend the money and buy one? Is it really that worth it? Is it to have the reassurance that your LO's heart is beating every day? I never bought one with any of my pregnancies, no particular reason why. Just did not spend the money on one.

Honestly? I'm not comfortable waiting so long to hear it. I will pretty much be out of my 1st tri before we even hear the heartbeat at the OB. With my daughter I got a total of 3 ultrasounds so I'm used to having that reassurance and I won't have it with this pregnancy due to only getting the one U/S (I know 1 is normal but after having it the other way I guess I was spoiled).
I don't have any losses but it would help ease my nerves to be able to hear it whenever I want.
And on a cutesy note, I got it so my daughter can hear the heartbeat too because she's so excited about becoming a big sister.

We bought one when I was pregnant with DS because I was told I had an anterior placenta and I wouldn't feel him for a while (which is true...didn't feel him consistently until about 25 weeks). I'm an extremely nervous/anxious person when not pregnant, so the $60 was worth the piece of mind for me.
And it's come in handy with this pregnancy already too. I had to postpone my first appt. by 2 weeks due to a death in the family and we all know how stressful that wait can be. The day I turned 10 weeks pregnant (a week and a half before my appt), I was able to find Bean's heartbeat.
I bought it for reassurance. I have heard it a couple times but not everytime. I am going to dr. every two weeks in 1st trimester for peace of mind (since I had a late 1st tri loss) and once I start going every 4 weeks it will be nice to hear the hb whevever I want. Worth the $50.

With DD3 I rented one because DH was deployed at the time and I wanted him to be able to hear the HB so I got it and made recordings for him. I also did 3d/4d u/s's so they could make tapes for me to send to him.
This time I bought one cause it was more cost effective to buy one for 50$ than to rent one for 20$ a month and because I just had my 5th loss in May and I being able to hear the baby's HB whenever I want is rather reassuring and keeps me relaxed. Plus, again, DH is away so with the home doppler I've been able to make recordings for him.
