Re: Most useless registry items..
Car bottle warmer, hands down, that thing sucked! It just didn't work. I never used a regular bottle warmer either, just microwaved water.
I also did not use the Jenny Jump Up very much. Some people like it, but we just forgot to use it.
I would say you don't need the wipe warmer. My DD never balked at a cold wipe.
Bumbo - cutest looking seat but it was useless to us. I didn't have a wipe warmer or a bottle warmer bc I was told they were useless too.
The item I used the most bc we formula fed was a formula divider. Filled it up when we traveled or were going out and didn't have to worry about measuring or keeping the bottle cold.
The car bottle warmer, never worked!
Like PP the formula divider was awsome once we switched to formula.
As for the bottle warmer- we used it a lot for the first 4 months, but then we realized that DS was only wanting warm milk which made going out a pain (trying to find warm water, waiting for the bottle to warm up). We decided to slowly cool it to room temperature and life was easier. So you may not want to even start with a bottle warmer.
I loved our diaper genie! When we threw them out in the trash, they made the house smell - especially once DD got a little older.
We also loved our bumbo seat. It was nice to be able to put her in a different position and she loved being able to sit up and play with toys. We got the tray too to put the toys on. We used that everyday.
I would say our most useless thing was bottles (I just posted this to someone else's post). Someone recommended Avent bottles to us and we got so many. We HATED them - they leaked all over and she didn't like the nipple on it. Just get a couple of a few different kinds until you figure out what LO likes. Then, use your giftcards to buy more.
I can't think of anything useless I got, but I have to say I loved the bumbo and wipes warmer. I still use the warmer now and he is 2.
We have the Diaper Genie, and we love it! It never smells up the room, and our dogs have never once tried to get into it or get at the diapers.
We totally used our Bumbos too!
Totally loved the formula dispenser!
Loved the Bumbo and we have a Diaper Dekor that we still use after 2.5 years (but we have a two story house, so it's pretty convenience upstairs).
Never had a wipe or bottle warmer, but I did breast feed, so bottles were limited.
I ended up with a million blankets... I would actually intentionally rotate them just so I used them all at least a few times. Never used swaddling blankets much, either.
Baby shoes, definitely useless!
We got waaaay too many hoodie bath towels. He grew out of them in a few months so I have a ton of teeny tiny baby towels we never use.
Also baby shoes, blankets, little layette bibs.
Also we hate out boon frog pod, its never stayed on the wall. and we got this bag that fold outs into a blanket- cute idea- but the bag part is awkard with the straps, and the blanket part is just too small, so its useless all around.
I actually liked the bottle warmer...perfect temp every time and very quick. The car bottle warmer on the other hand is dumb.
Bottle warmer, - we used room temp water.
Wipes warmer
changing table (we just didn't ever use it)
baby shoes!
As a BF momma, I didn't get much use out of my bottle warmer-- until we started the transition to cow milk. It helped to bring a bottled of pumped milk mixed with cow milk up to room temperature or warmer at least until he adjusted to drinking cold milk.
I never had a wipes warmer but it seems a little pointless to me. A newborn is going to cry regardless if the wipe is cold or warm, and I think my DS likes the cool, freshness of a cold wipe. Maybe that's just me :-p
I didn't get a use out of 37839748397 blankets. We used one or two blankets for the car seat during the winter, and he slept in those velcro swaddle blankets for a very long time. But I have a stack of at least 10 blankets in my closet waiting for this baby.
Baby shoes. They don't walk. They are pointless and uncomfortable.
Bumbo. I personally think they are unsafe. At 3 months, our son would push off with his feet and almost flip over.
Bottle sterilizer. Just use the dishwasher.
Things you will need but don't think about as registry items:
Clock for the babies room. If you are nursing, timing each side those first weeks is key since you don't know how many ounces they are eating.
Night light for your room if the baby is sleeping in there and one for the baby room.
A do not knock or ring doorbell sign. Homemade not really a registry item.
Baby shoes (such a waste...never used/worn...total waste of money)
bottle sterilizer (dishwasher is easier and it's one less thing to have taking up space in my house)
bumbo/be-be-pod
The Diaper Genie gets a bad rap, and I can see why. If your nursery is on the first floor and you can esaily take the diapers out the trash, I can see why it would be useless.
However, I live on the 3rd floor of a condo building. For me to take something out to the trash involves many stairs, going through the garage, and into the alley. Not practical for every diaper. If I just throw the diaper into our kitchen garbage, it stinks up our tiny place. So, the Diaper Genie has been perfect for us. Yes, the refills are obnoxious. And if you let it get too full, it will smell. But we sometimes empty it after 2-3 diapers, if they are bad enough. We try to take out the diapers every time we take out the other trash, and it has been fine.
Just my two cents on why you may want one.
the car window shade screen things. No matter where I put it in our car the sun would find it's way through a crack. And most of the time they didn't stay up.
We also got a lot of blankets. Don't worry about registering for them because we put like 3 on our registry and not only got them but got about 15 more. People will give you blankets.
Happy Easter

got this at baby shower...it's uselessness is fairly self explanatory
Baby Bjorn. My DD was under 5 pounds at birth so we couldn't use it and I just got used to my Moby wrap. In the end the Moby was about xmillion times better!!
Scented Baby Soaps/lotions. DD's skin was too sensitive and we still have to use unscented Aveeno.
We LOVE our wipe warmer. And DD never cried at diaper changes in the middle of the night. Plus, I wouldn't want a cold wipe on my hoo-ha in the middle of the night, so why would I do it to her?!
Loved our Bumbo, too!
We never even got a Diaper Genie. I've never been to someone's house who had one where you COULDN"T smell it! Gross. I just use grocery bags, and pitch diapers in the outside trash daily. The BM diapers were no problem...but her diapers got pretty stinky once she was older and move onto solid foods and meat.
Specialized swaddle blankets (e.g. Miracle blanket) were a waste for us. You can't use them for anything but swaddling and DD DEPLORED being swaddled!
