Bleeding after transvag ultrasound????

******Content may be TMI for some to handle******  So I had to have two transvaginal ultrasounds in one day, one at the doctor's one at the hospital.  The next day (about 36 hours after) I began to bleed, not a tiny bit, but when I wiped there were thick bloody streaks on the toilet paper (three or four wipes worth).  The blood was not brown or pink, it was bright red.  It stopped since then.  Has anyone had this happen have the transvaginal ultrasound???  I am hoping and praying I am not miscarrying.

  • I had a transvaginal on Friday morning and the same thing happened to me last night. I really thought that was the end of this pregnancy. But I ve had nothing since then 10 hours ago) This also happened to me 2 weeks ago. I did just see the heartbeat on Friday so I'm trying to remain positive. Good luck to you. It is normal to bleed after that though due to a sensitive cervix.

  • I had spotting after a tv ultrasound. The ultrasound tech actually warned me that there may be spotting. I think it's normal but call your doc if you need to! I call my doc all.the.time. Big Smile

  • I haven't had my first ultrasound yet but I have heard it can be normal due to the extra blood flow to the cervix.  I have had spotting after sex before and my nurse assured me that was normal.

  • I personally have not had one done yet, but I've heard that it's normal.  If it stops and isn't accompianed by cramps your OK.  If it was me I would call my doctor to let them know that this happened though.

  • I would call your doctor to be sure, but from what I've read, that can be normal.  I had some bleeding last week and the first question the nurse asked me when I called in was, did you just have a vaginal ultrasound?  I hadn't, but I would bet that, if that is their first question, bleeding is pretty common.
  • I had a tv u/s because of some pink and brown spotting.  That night (after the u/s) it was bright red, but I haven't had anything since then.  My dr warned me that it might happened, but it was still very nerve-wracking!
  • I had a tranvag U/S last week with no spotting...But DH and I had sex last night and there was spotting after that, but only for a while. My dr. said this may happen and it's normal. If you're really concerned, call your doc, they can calm your fears. But things are just more sensitive down there right now, so spotting after an U/S or sex is pretty normal. HTH!
