Yesterday, I spoke to the clinical trial study nurse and to my husband, and I think all things are go for me to try to pass the screening for an IVF study. One thing that is nagging me is that AMH must be between 1 and 3 to pass screening for the study, and my one and only test was 3.1 back in January. Apparently according to the study nurse, this AMH level requirement is getting a lot of potential people kicked out of the study (because of vastly non-repeatable AMH test readings when they do the screening).
I really want to pass (obviously), but I am really nervous that my AMH is going to be out of range again on retest.
So, I am curious how repeatable these tests are, and if there is anything I can do to increase my chances of testing a little bit lower. -- perhaps getting really, really hydrated ahead of time? I realize that blood water balance is a pretty tightly controlled hormonal process, but I am wondering if this might help some. Medical professionals feel free to chime in.

Re: Anyone ever had AMH test repeated?
The hydration thing might work. It's the only thing I can think of that would lower your levels artificially. But typically you only see dilutional effects if someone is getting a ton of IV fluid. I'm not sure you could drink enough fluid to dilute your blood. It certainly won't hurt to try though.
3.1 is so close to 3.0 that it is well within the acceptable error on the lab test, so you could easily come in under 3.0 on repeat. But the risk is that you could also end up even higher. If 3.1 is going to get you kicked out of the study anyway though, I'd definitely repeat the labs. You don't have anything to lose. Can't they just round down and report your level as 3?

Thanks for chiming in tst. I will definitely give the hydration thing a whirl. It seems like they are making everyone retest AMH and other labs for the study anyhow. The company running the study apparently is also very strict on the cutoff, even if we all know that a 2.9 and a 3.1 are really the same number, or at least within the margin of error.
I go in for the whole screening, which includes a fasting bloodtest this Friday morning (no prohibition on water drinking, though!). If my FP comes when it normally does, then Friday will also be my CD2, so we will do CD3 blood draw too. I will report back on how things go...
