I've been taking iron supplements for about a week now, with a stool softener to prevent constipation. I take it with dinner, so that if it bothers my stomach I can sleep through it (I wake up occasionally feeling sick to my stomach but nothing too bad). Everything has been fine and no constipation for me. But yesterday afternoon, my stomach really started bothering me and I've had stomach cramps (not period-like) and diarrhea. I had the same problem in high school when I had to take iron, and it was so bad that I stopped taking them. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem with iron. Or maybe it is not related to the iron at all and something else is going on with me. I just know that I have not felt good for about 24 hours.
Re: for those taking iron-tmi
I don't know if it is iron related...because I don't take Iron--but I have def. had more loose stools and I eat something and then almost immediately have to go the the bathroom..this has been going on for a couple of weeks now w/random days where it doesn't.
