That's a problem created by a parent. Did her pediatrician never mention to her this was something you wean them from? She sounded like she was ignorant to when kids stopped using them. It seems ridiculous.
Unless that child has some sort of issue or is on the spectrum or something similar, they don't need bottles of water at 3 years old.

you have to watch all of the parts. She sleeps with them and they try not to give it to her but she gives in when she starts screaming. I know its hard to hear them cry but her daughter is totally manipulating them . They completely created this problem all by themselves. I am glad that DD is amost off the bottle at a year and never took a pacifier
I like her, but her ignorance is annoying. Why would you think this would be ok?

Carson Henry, born 39w, 2d, via emergency c/s due to no fetal movement and fetal distress. Seizures, IVH grade 2, brain injury, kidney and liver damage. Complete blood clot in the artery in his right arm. 27 days in the NICU. Now discharged from all specialists, excepts his kidney doctor, who will monitor him indefinitely. My tough little cookie.
I found that whole series of videos fascinating. I can't even imagine just giving in like that - after all that time. And the fact that the little girl is still sleeping in their bed every single night AND still wearing diapers at 3-1/2?! I'm a FTM and have no clue about potty training, but um...don't kids stop wearing diapers before then?

My three year old is still in diapers. I just recently became a SAHM, so now I can dedicate more time and consistency to getting her trained. She is so stubborn, and I am having a hard time getting her to acknowledge the concept of going in the potty vs diaper.
Ah, okay. I really had no idea - I hope I didn't offend you or anyone else. Like I said, I haven't been there yet (and haven't read up on it yet since DD is nowhere close to that point). I think it was the vision of the "big girl" in nothing but her diaper with a bottle - it seemed a bit off to me.

Still wearing diapers and still using bottles at 3YO are way different IMO.
You can always do what my parents did-we were going on a family trip to Disney and they said you couldn't wear diapers at Disney World so if I didn't start using the potty, I wouldn't get to go in. It worked

1st-Leah is hilarious. I truly found her funny to listen to.
2nd-I can say we will not be off bottles at 1 year. But we are trying. It sounds to me like they didn't even try to wean at all, which is very strange. I've never heard of a child being on a bottle at 3.5 years.
eta: oh and I wish I looked as good as she does on so little sleep...

I didn't watch the video, but I have a 3 year old and that's just ridiculous. Listening to tantrums because they don't get their way is part of being a parent.. grow a pair and say no!

Absolutely. That's a big time parent who can't say no problem

My parents gave me breakfast (choc milk) in a bottle til I was 3 or 4, it was the only way to get me to have anything in the morning, and I would still be half asleep. We are so not gonna do that with C.

I just watched all the clips. Yes, she was manipulated. Yes, she was an older mom who just wanted to make her only child happy with everything she did. These are excuses, definitely. But, I can see exactly how it happened. Sometimes, it is much easier to give in. Whether it's with a bottle or an extra show before bed or that doll hey have to have at Target. I give in a lot. But in no way do I think I am a bad mother and I would crucify anyone who said I was. As far as the potty training, Leah didn't say she wasn't. She may just have been wearing diapers at night, which is TOTALLY common.
Olivia was off the bottle at about 18 months. From about a year until totally weaned, she only got a night bottle and that was my doing. I wasn't ready to part with our night routine which included the last cuddle session of the day. Olivia has been potty trained since before she was 2, but is still wearing pull-ups for bed. She wakes up soaked. Neither the doctor or myself are concerned yet. As I said, I give in a lot. I have a high needs infant and many times it is what I have to do so I don't have two major meltdowns all day long (Abby loses her marbles when Olivia cries).
So anyway, I don't judge them at all. I think it's a shame that her situation happened and actually feel a little bad that she had to go through it. But, I am also a mom to a pretty fresh almost 4 yr old. It sucks. I hope none of you have to deal with difficult behavior. And that is not snark-I really hope you don't!

Yeah, I wondered about this. I didn't read closely but it didn't say anything about diapers during the day, did it? I was in diapers at night for a long time even though I was fully potty-trained during the day. If my kid was drinking 6-8 bottles of water and sleeping in my bed, you'd better believe she'd be wearing a diaper!
I guess technically now I should be SecondBabyMomma

I try not to judge, especially when I don't have a child that age myself.
With that said, this is absolutely crazy.
