Re: BF Mom's---Do you nurse your lo to sleep?

  • I FF Brook, but I think I've done the same thing.  She used to go to sleep fine on her own, but I made the mistake of rocking her with a bottle about a week ago.  Now she doesn't seem to want to go to sleep unless she is being fed and rocked.

  • That's the only way she will nap, but for some reason she goes to sleep fine at night without being nursed.

  • Its the only way she will fall asleep at night. I have been working on rocking her to back to sleep if she wakes up soon after she falls asleep. So far its been working, I used to just pop the boob out when ever she woke up to get her back down.

  • We nurse to sleep. Its what works for us. I really don't see the big problem, its not like she will be nursing to sleep when shes 15. If its what she needs then I will keep doing it Eventually your baby will learn how to sef soothe.

  • I still nurse DD to sleep at night, not for naps though. I'm really not concerned about it. Like pp said, it's not a habit that she'll never break. And I've had my mom put her down with a bottle instead twice, so at least I'm not tied to her every night. I bought Ferber's book and plan to Ferberize sometime soon...I'm going to switch her bedtime routine from bath-nurse-bed to nurse-bath-bed and use that method to ease her into it. I also want to start weaning her off the paci and think Ferber will be helpful with that. We'll see...again, I'm in no big rush for any of this. DD is such a good girl, I just let her do what makes her happy!
