All purpose cleaner

Good morning :) I am wondering if any of you have a really effective all-purpose cleaner recipe. It'd be nice to have one that can be used in the kitchen and bathroom (we have subway tile and laminate). Since we have a baby, I am trying to use less chemicals in the house.  She is a micro-preemie and has lung problems. Also, do you ladies just dust with a rag or do you use a cleaner on your wood? I have been using the swiffer duster for a while but I don't feel that it is very effective.

Any suggestions and help will be appreciated. TIA!

  • Honestly, I just fill up a spray bottle with water, add about 1/4 cup-1/2 cup vinegar, and about 1 1/2 tbsp of Dr Bronner's. This is what I use in the kitchen exclusively.  I'm not sure if those are the "right" proportions, but that's what I do.

  • I use a vinegar, tea tree oil and water solution. Here's a link to a few recipes I use around the house.

  • I use 2 cups of  vinegar, 2 cups of water, and 40 drops of grapefruit seed extract. Two cups of water and 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract also makes a great fruit and veggie wash. It's always worked very well.
  • 1/2 vinegar, 1/2 water use on everything but granite/marble. I use a rag and the vinegar mixture for my dusting.

Curious what you use on your granite. I hate the smell of the method stuff.

We have a spray bottle with vinegar and water in it. Use either that or the jug of vinegar for everything. Stainless, floors, window, sinks, toilets, etc. If its a bad spot, we add baking soda for the "volcano" effect. Sometimes I'll add lemon juice too, but the smell doesn't last nearly as long as the commercial "lemon" cleaners.
