For those still waiting...

How are you managing sleep (or attempting to)?

Are you still able to sleep on your side?

I used to complain about how achy my left hip would get & how frequently it woke me up--and now I'd kill to be able to lay on my side!  LO is settled on my right, so I can't lay that way, & whenever I try my left, I get stabbing pains.  So, I'm sitting upright in bed, which is killing my back.  Feeling desperate for shut-eye & wondering how it's going for you gals.

Re: For those still waiting...

  • I'm usually the last one to bed and the first one up..

I hate sleeping, and steal all the pillows in the house. so I can at lest sleep sitting up a little.

  • I can only sleep on my side.  I figure at this point the lack of sleep is like training for when LO arrives and I don't sleep anyways.  I'm up every hour peeing, so it's not real quality sleep when I get it.  I'd advise napping when you can.  You're not going to be sleeping at night anyways.  I always sleep a good 90 minutes in the afternoon and it's the best sleep of my day.

    Good luck!

  • I can't. I sleep about 3 hours at night and take a nap (less than 2 hrs) during the day. It is hard! I am 41 weeks so mybe this has somethng to do with it.

  • ::::butting in:::: Ditto to the PP; start taking naps if you can and enjoy the sleep you DO get. I'm not a mapper and when LO arrived I had to learn how to sleep during the middle of the day when she slept. Wasn't easy at all, but it's typically the best sleep I get!

Good luck these last few days/weeks ladies!!! We can't wait to meet your LOs!!

  • I'm actually sleeping pretty well... I wake frequently, but it's expected. A giant body pillow between my legs, sleeping on my side is the only way I feel comfortable.

  • I can't sleep at all, especially in my bed. I've been sleeping on the couch propped up against the arm of the couch. It's been much more comfortable for me, less hip pain less pelvic pain.  Still up every hour or so because of a contraction or I have to pee but the reduced pain is at least a little comfort.

  • I'm sleeping pretty well, minus the peeing five times a night. I've never been able to sleep completely on my side, so I sleep more on my back  with my belly sort of tipped over. Works great for me!

  • sorry but not gunna lie, i sleep pretty freaking great. After suffering from excruciating hip pain for quite a few weeks back in 2nd tri, i made this nest:

the white pillow is the Leacho Back N Belly, and i sleep with my head on the purple pillow. I alternate sides each time I get up to pee at night, but its so easy to go right back to sleep because its so dang comfy! the blue and brown pillows support my belly and back. LOVE. IT. the only downside is i cant really cuddle with DH, we just hold hands instead haha. No hip pain whatsoever. And i could seriously sleep about 24 hours straight in this thing. Also, the pillows are tempurpedic so i think that helps a bit too.

  • I'm only able to sleep on my side with my body pillow under my belly & between my knees.  DH sleeps in the guest room to get away from my snoring, but having the whole bed to myself has helped me sleep.  I miss going to bed with him, but don't miss trying to get comfortable flipping over without jamming my giant pillow in his face.  Napping helps, too!

  • I'm 41.1... I can't really complain about how much I sleep.... I sleep with a body pillow between my legs and kinds propped under my belly. I'm up 3 or 4 times to pee but then I just switch sides when I come back... usually getting about 9 hours a night.... And I nap in the day... not always cause I'm tired... just trying to pass the time till LO gets here!!
  • I'm usually on my side... unless, the heartburn is kicking that night.  In that case I am sitting up in bed or in the recliner, again on my side.

Last night I actually got to sleep and didn't get up once until 4am.  WOW!  I was so surprised and feel very rested today.  One trip to the potty and back to bed till 8 am.

  • I am sleeping really well it sounds like compared to some.  I rotate back and forth between my left and right side.  I have the large boppy pregnancy pillow and a couple other pillows.  As long as I have something between my legs and under my belly I am good to go.  The only issue for me is if I nap during the day there is no way I am getting to sleep at a good time but at least I know that will work for me in the future.

  • Sleep hasn't been too terrible until the past week.  Now, no matter what I do, there is no comfortable position.  Between my hip and pubic pain, and the big ol' belly, there is no good position.  If I'm in bed, I still use my full body pillow (with an extra pillow wedged in so my knees are farther apart.  If I'm on the couch, I use a ton of pillows and kind of sit up to sleep.

At this point, it's just not going to happen comfortably.  I've resorted to asking DH to rub my back or hips until I fall asleep, because it relaxes me.

  • one pillow on the left, one pillow on the right. Little pillow under bump. And seeing how I get up at least 3 times a night to go potty, I switch everytime I go back to bed. that way I sleep 2 hours on the left side, then 2 hours on the right, then 2 hours on the left again...
Seems to be doing the trick sofar

  • I have about 10 pillows to help prop me up. I have had a lot of congestion lately and have trouble catching my breath. Anyhow, I still sleep on my sides. I have to hold a big pillow and I have a boopy pregnancy wedge I use for in between my legs. I switch sides every time I get up to go to the bathroom. I also keep the room SUPER cool. I have also been taking full advantage of napping. Hang in there!

  • I sleep in a lazy boy every night and that is miserable, but not as miserable as the bed......

  • Four regular bed pillows and a Snoogle... I still sleep on my side but have to flip each time I get up to pee (every 2 hours) because my hips are killing me.

  • Sleep sucks, and I am sooooo tired. I usually sleep on my side with a flat pillow between my knees, and a small travel pillow unter my arm. I am sorry that you are so miserable. Hang in there.
  • I sleep on either side with a body pillow tucked under my belly and between my knees.  I'm only up to pee once a night, but I wake up to roll over multiple times a night which is annoying.  I don't know how my husband sleeps at all with all the rearranging of the pillows and whatnot all night!

  • I'm sleeping on my side.. and sometimes end up more on my back, but still have my stomach turned a little bit. (lying right on my back makes it hard to breathe) I sleep with a body pillow, stuck in between my knees, and my belly resting on it too. I think it helps a little

  • I am so tired, but hate going to sleep. I have horrible back and hip pain. Nothing helps. I try to nap at least once a day to make up for some lost sleep at night. I hope this little pumpkin comes soon so I can just get a little pain relief.
