Last minute doubts

So a while back my DH and I settled on Anna for a first name. Now, I am having second thoughts. I also like Anneke / Annike (pronounced Ann-ik-uh). Yes, I know that it may be pronounced differently in the US, but I live in Holland and that's how it's pronounced here. 

The doubts come from Anna being too plain. Anna is also my great grandmother's name so there's a family connection, but it's not that important.  I don't know....just second guessing myself. Should I stick with Anna  or go with something a bit more Dutch? My DH is Dutch, I am American of Irish & Swedish roots. The last name is Dutch and long --- think van den Berg.

    if your going to live in the US it will be hard for her to have a name most will mispronounce. it doesn't look like Annika (maybe you could spell it the American way so to use Anna and then also speak to your heritage)

    I voted for Annike, especially since you live somewhere where the pronunciation would be less of a problem. And you can always use Anna as a nickname!

    I do love the name Annika - it's the name of one of the girls I nanny/babysit for and pronounced the same way you said, but with a different spelling. However, I think if the last name is lengthy, it might be nice if the first name is simple. Either way you can't go wrong, they're all nice choices.

    I went to school from 5th grade through 12th grade with an Anneke and no one had trouble spelling/pronouncing it.  This was in the USA.

    I also went to school with a couple of Anneke's in Canada. Their names were always pronounced correctly from what I heard. I think it's a beautiful name! :)

    I have an Annika, so i might be a little biased, but I love Anneke.  Even though its pronounced differently, its still a great name, and she can use Anna as a nickname.

    If you really like Annike or Anneke, go for it! I don't think that mispronunciation is such a big deal. My name has been mispronounced and misspelled my entire life, and I still love it.
