Did anyone get a tummy tuck with thier c/s. I just found out from my DR that my insurance would cover it since its my second c/s and I had problems because of the excess skin last time.
I'm curious to hear if it dramatically increases recovery time or if recovery is much different?

I would freaking love this. We're done after this one. I'm 4'11" and DS1 was huge. I have a gigantic flap that is constantly rubbing my scar.
I'm terrified about what it's going to look like after this one.
ETA: I would love a tummy tuck, but at a separate time. I had an easy c/s recovery and it was no walk in the park. From what I understand a tummy tuck is a much bigger incision, drains, and the whole 9 yards. I've heard it's a very difficult recovery. With 2u1 I would wait until they were older since it will be chaos around the house as it is.
A plastic surgeon will come in and do the tummy tuck. I didn't even know that they did this, but at my last OB apt, he suggested that I request a tummy tuck during the c/s since after my last c/s it took me 6 months to heal and most of it had to do with the excess skin (chafing, etc..)
I guess if it weren't as effective as a tummy tuck done a few months after my c/s, I'd be ok with that. I just don't want to run into the same problem with healing, and I'm totally ok with having a little bit of belly to work off myself.
DH is in the military so we have the military insurance, TRICARE Prime. They're super sticklers about everything so I was so suprised that they ended up approving it for me. I guess my pooch was worse that I thought!
This would be my concern. My hairdresser told me that her plastic surgeon would do a tummy tuck right after a c-section. And although @ 1st I was kinda planning on doing this after my last child (whether or not my insurance would cover it, which by the way I highly doubt they will) I dont think I would do it, since after my last c-section, my tummy took a while to go down or "deflate" as I like to call it. Plus having to recuperate from a tummy tuck seems to be much harder than a regular c-section. My SIL had one and she was not able to do much for 2-3 weeks. I was able to do much more than she did 3-4 days after I had DS.
I'm totally getting a tummy tuck after this next and last baby but I'm waiting about a year after to lose the weight so they can cut off as much skin as possible. I had a breast reduction last year and will have that surgeon do it.
Granted, my DH does not yet know of my plan but I've already started saving for it. I hate the extra chub! I work out 6 days a week so I know it's not going anywhere unless it's cut off!
I had a mini tuck with this last cs
I had two separate scars from my first 3 kids. My first two cs's were taken from the same scar, but my doc for the 3rd said she had to cut above my original scar.
So this doc for my 4th saw that and offered to "take out" the extra scar which basically involved a tuck. I don't know how much he took out or anything, but I can see a small difference in the area down there... too bad I'm too fat to really notice any difference.
But I'm hoping once I lose some more weight it will be noticeable.
