Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Dairy- Free please

My son is 10 months old and he is allergic to dairy. I have been trying to find him stuff he can eat other than breastmilk and he really doesn't like baby food at all. If anyone could give me some recipes of stuff to make or give me good sites with stuff I would appriciate it.

Re: Dairy- Free please

  • Have you tried making it yourself?  It tastes a lot better than commercial food and then you know there aren't hidden allergens in it (some baby food uses egg whites for example).  Good foods to try for starters with would be banana, avocado, sweet potato, butternut squash, apples, pears, peaches, asparagus (if you can find it this time of year), cauliflower, etc.  I assume you already know that you have to introduce them one at a time to watch for reactions, which is especially important since your LO already has a known allergy.

  • You could always steam cut up veggies/fruits until they are mushy enough for LO to gum. If you're looking for a milk replacement in adult-type foods, rice dream or silk would be options for you.

  • Thanks, i will try these. Yeah I certainly have to be careful, since my husband is allergic to a lot of things (including milk), so I'm always cautious of what to give my baby.
