Since last Friday I have been seeing some tiny blood traces on Ian's diapers. Of course I freaked out and I first called the nurse who has been doing his well baby care visits. She said there is no room to panic, that it is most likely milk protein allergies. Consulted the pedi and told me to stay away from dairies (I am breastfeeding). And that is all? No blood tests, not anything? What if something is really wrong? Ok...thought they probably know what they are doing. So I am on a diet, but the symptoms are still here. I know it takes some time for those to go away, but I kind of expect to see less blood at least. Two days ago went there again, and they told us to collect poop samples. Gave us two bottles. Oh boy, it took forever to fill them us as much as we were supposed to. Today we brought those back and now the results will be on Monday. Couldn't they do anything else meanwhile? In my home country the first thing they do in cases like this is blood analysis. Here it seems like that is the last thing on the list...
Other than that, Ian looks happy, eats a lot, smiles a lot, "talks" a lot, cries when he is sleepy or hungry... He looks healthy, but obviously something is wrong. I really really really hope that nothing serious is going on:( I just wish all the tests and results were quicker.
Thanks for listening, if you red this far. I had to vent somewhere.
Re: Vent: Very worried and upset
Hope it's nothing at all to worry about at all. Just hang in there.. Monday's coming fast.

Oh no! That's scary, but I have heard of it before.
I hope it's resolved quickly and they find out what's up with your little guy.

That is very scary but if LO is not acting sick, then at this age, he probably is not. I am praying with you that on Monday it will be ok.
Michael was on an anti-biotic (and I can not remember which one) and it made his poop hot pink which kind of looks like blood. We had a few hours of freak out until they did a quick culture and it was no reactive for blood.
I just wanted to add that the milk protein can take a month to six weeks to clear out of your and baby's systems, but the blood will most likely stop after a week, so if it doesn't I would definitely cut out soy. If you're still seeing symptoms, you can do a rotation diet where you cut out an allergen for a few days and see if things get better. My DD had blood in her stool from milk, soy, wheat, fish, and nuts. She also has sensitivities to a bunch of other foods, but she does seem to be outgrowing some of her sensitivities, so I'm hoping that most of them won't turn out to be true allergies.
I know it's really stressful. Good luck!
I hope it's nothing, and I think it's probably fine! Melisende was leaking blood from her nipples a couple of weeks ago, but the pediatrician said it was rare, but not dangerous unless it continued for more than a week. It stopped after two days.
I hope you have a similar outcome!
(hugs) It is terrible to worry about our children. I hope you get nothing but good news on Monday. I really feel that you can tell when something bad is happending with your child. If you say he is acting normal in every other way then he is probably fine.
Having said that, once you get through this, if you aren't happy with your pediatrician -- find a new one. I am not one to rush my children to the doctor, but about a month ago I brought my LO to the doctor because I just knew something was wrong. The doctor admitted to me that she "rolled her eyes when she was told that the mother (me) was bringing her baby in because he looked funny". However, she took one look at my LO and agreed -- he looked funny. She immediately ran a blood panel and he clearly had a virus. I have to agree with you that your doctor should have probably run a basic blood test right away, It only took 10 minutes at my doctor's office and it helped rule out some more serious concerns.
Good luck on Monday. Meanwhile, trust your instincts. We aren't wrong that often
