TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Luna's Bad Luck Continues

Bloodwork on Tuesday showed an unusually high estrogen level for someone who is NOT SUPPOSED TO BE OVULATING while on Lupron.  Went in for a u/s today and sure enough I am ovulating when my donor just started her stims.  The whole cycle is f*cked now.  I'm waiting for my RE to let me know what to do next but the nurses suggested that we might end up having to freeze all of the embryos and do a frozen transfer next month or whenever.  They had no clue what to tell me since this has never happened before, ever.

I'm pretty sure that frozen embryos have a much lower success rate than fresh ones.  Seriously, why can't I ever have anything work??  I can't believe this.  I just can't believe it.

  • This is such crap. What were they supressing you with? If it helps, at my clinic FETs don't have a lower success rate than fresh IVF cycles. I know a fresh is preferred, but if your DE end up being pushed out to 5-day blasts there is a good chance they will freeze and thaw well. I'm rooting for you and I am so sorry this had to happen. Let me know if you need anything! ((((HUGS))))

  • Gahhhh! WTF??

But frozen embryos do NOT have a lower success rate than fresh. They may not all survive the thaw, but one theory is that if they wouldn't have survived the thaw, neither would they have survived implantation. There are actually some practices that do frozen transfers *only* because frozen transfer often has a higher success rate with pregnancy. What you lose in the thaw you make up for by being able to really prep the uterus correctly instead of just having to take what you have on transfer day. One of my Resolve buddies goes to a clinic that does frozen transfer only for that reason.

  • Boooooooooo! *hugs*

Yes, this! I know plenty of people who've done FETs after struggling with more typical IVF cycles on the theory that they'll be in better shape for implantation.

I hope this wonky situation turns into the best outcome possible!
