Luca weighed in last week at 10lbs, 2oz for his 2 month appointment. 10%, but the pedi didn't seem like it was something to worry about. He is wearing size 3 month, and they are getting tight and short on him. He was born at 6lbs, 7oz so I guess he is gaining fine, but it just seems like everyone else I know has monster babies. I have two friends that both had preemies (like 6 weeks premature) and by 2 months their babies were already HUGE. DH is a big guy, so I am wondering if Luca will ever catch up and be big like daddy or stay small like mommy.

My life has a superb cast but I can't figure out the plot.
Or telling you to start formula feeding. I know it's very difficult to not worry, but he's is doing great
I agree, especially with the comments about the doctor. DS was only about 7oz over Luca at birth and I'm a foot taller than you. I didn't have growth restriction issues, so sometimes we just have smaller babies.
I also agree that how we start is not often how we end up. DH's mom was 22" long at birth (I don't know her weight though) and is 4'11". I was 21" and am 6'2". DH was 18" and is just over 6'. So, you never know.
How did you and your DH gain? Both DH and I gained weight like mad in our first three months and DS is doing the same. However, if we'd gained weight slowly, I'd expect DS to follow that trend as well.

C is a preemie, born almost 6 weeks early, and was 5lbs even at birth. He came home at 4lbs. 13oz. I BF for a while but eventually started giving formula since my milk wasn't coming in adequately. Most preemies are on high calorie formulas (Similac Neosure or Enfamil Enfacare) to help them gain weight. That is most likely the reason your friend's preemies seem to be gaining a lot, because they are getting more calories during their feedings. We stopped the Neosure at 4 months since C had reached his "goal" weight, but some doctors recommend staying on the high calorie the whole first year.
C is 9 months actual and is 20lbs.
Every baby is different and I'm sure Luca is growing just fine. Try not to compare him to other babies, you will make yourself crazy.
Yup. Born at 6lbs 7oz (36 weeks), went home at 6 lbs 1 oz. Has been in the 10th percentile or below for weight his entire life. I think it's especially hard when you're EBF not to fixate on weight gain, but as long as he's staying on his growth curve (though even with that between 6-9 months it is not at all uncommon to fall off) and seems happy/healthy/meeting milestones you're fine. LO was born at the same time as a bunch of BIG boys on this board, and the stats comparisons were funny. They could have eaten him alive.
Try to avoid comparing to other babies in general. Weight gain, milestones, how soon they STTN, take a sippy, it just doesn't stop.
My daughter has always been the peanut! She just turned 2 last month and was only 23lbs. She was born 3wks early and weighed 4lbs 12oz.Her twin brother was 6lbs5oz and weighs almost 30lbs, just to give a comparison.
My dr has never had problems with her weight since she is in her own curve! And as long as she stays on that curve there shouldnt be any problems.
Isaac was 10 lbs at his 2 month check and wore NB or 0-3. He was 6lb1oz at birth and is a champion gainer now. At this point he's 17lbs4oz and almost 28" long - 80% length. We've since switched to formula, but he drinks 4-6 oz bottles now.
I was SO worried because he wasn't eating much either at 2 mos. I think his total for the day was about 18 oz of EBM and the occasional BF'ing that he would "let me" do. I never felt like he was getting enough either, but he is built to know how much he needs. Luca is doing great and so are you!

Grace just had her one year appt today and YES! She is a teeny tiny little thing. She is 17lbs 4oz but the ped didn't seem at all concerned since she has always been about 3rd percentile and hasn't fallen off the charts and is consistant. LOL.
I was really hoping she was going to be closer to 20lb but she is just going to be a petite little girl. I guess if ped isn't worried then I shouldn't be.

DD started out at the high end of the growth chart for weight but quickly dropped off and has been 1-3% since forever. She is now 18 months old and weighs a little over 20lbs. I had friends with 9 month olds who weigh more then she does. Try not to let it worry you too much but if you have concerns make sure to mention it to your pedi. My pedi didn't get concerned about DD's weight until she fell off her growth chart but we packed in some extra calories and now she is back to 3% for weight
As far as her height she is TALL. 95% for height so she's tall and skinny
