small gift for 2nd time mom?

one of my bff's just found out she's pregnant. i'm stoked to be pregnant with her and i want to buy her a little congratulations gift. it obv needs to be gender neutral. just something small to say "yay-i'm-happy-for-you!"

she's already getting her daughter a "big sister" shirt, so that's out.

any suggestions? thanks!

Re: small gift for 2nd time mom?

  • Do you want a baby gift?  When I found out I was pg with W my bff got me a super cute unisex baby outfit from Carters.

Or if you want a gift for her, you could take her out for a pedicure. I know my feet and legs got sore a lot earlier with a toddler to keep up with.

  • either mom gift or baby gift works--

i got her an elaborate onesie/sock bouquet a few years ago when we found out she was pregnant for the first time...so maybe i should stick with a mommy gift this time.

  • A friend of mine got me a maternity shirt and I was stoked.  If you want something for the baby besides an outfit, how about a nice picture frame?

  • When was she pregnant last?  If it has been a while, I think that the pp suggestion of a maternity shirt is a good one.  Styles change and it seemed when I was pregnant that I was wearing the same thing all the time.  I would have have loved something new to wear.

  • her DD is 16 months..so it wasn't too long ago that she was pg last. i like the idea of the belly book, but i'm not sure she has time for something like that....how many pages are there for each...time period? is it done by month? i might want one for myself, but i've been bad about taking pictures =P

  • Maybe a gift cert to a shop like this so she can get a mommy necklace? This is where I got mine and I love it so much!

It's kind of time consuming if you fill in every piece of information it suggests. It's a weekly picture as well as journaling how you are feeling, what you are up to, current events. Then there are pages about your doctors appointments, ultrasounds. There are fun pages like when you wore your first maternity outfit, your cravings, when you felt the baby move for the first time, hiccups, Braxton Hicks etc. Then the final section is about your birth experience (time you went into labor, who your doctor was, how long your labor was). I like this because this is stuff you forget over time....and your child's baby book might not have this info.

I LOVE looking back at both my books.

each WEEK? hahaha that's way too intense for me, and even moreso too intense for her. but thank you for the suggestion, i do love the idea of it!

  • How about booking her a maternity picture session with a local photographer for later on?  If it's too pricey, maybe see if some friends want to go in together for the cost.
