Never waiting 8 hours again to pump!

Holy cow, this was the longest I've gone without pumping.  I was sooo tired last night and just said that I would pump first thing in the morning.  15 oz's later, I feel such relief, lol.

On another note,  DS has been so gassy and fussy at night, I decided to try half BM and half Formula in his bottle, and it turned out to be a great night, his tummy seemed to feel so much better.  I think I'm going to try the half and half in the evenings and throughout his night feeding(s), and stick to BM during the day.

Anyone else ever try this?  If so, how did it work out for you?

  • 15 oz!  Holy cow!

I had to get up at 3am to pump the other day since DD didn't get up.  I was SO uncomfortable.  I seem to get 5oz no matter when I pump.  My boobs still feel engorged when I'm done and DD can still eat plenty of what's left, but the pump maxes out at 5.  Weird.

  • I'm so jealous of you ladies. The most I get is 2.5oz total per pumping session. DS is 4weeks old. I wonder if my suppy will increase soon.
  • I was even surpised!  I usually pump every 2-3 hours and will get 4 oz.  If I wait 4-5 hours I get 5 oz, 6-7 hours I get 6 oz, but this was crazy!!  I just bent over to get my pump stuff ready and my boobs started leaking, Ive never leaked!  I also just pump, and don't really nurse, only will sometimes nurse at night.

I just stuck to pumping every 2-3 hours and my supply has increased a lot over time.  It does get to be a pain sometimes, but it's overall worth it!

My LO is almost 5 weeks and I usually only get 2-4 oz when I pump. I feel your pain!

I have no idea if this makes a difference, but I eat a ton of oatmeal and "lactation cookies."

When I started pumping, I only got 1-2 oz each time.  It's taken awhile to get to where I am.  I was at 4oz last week.  I also only pump once or twice a day - in the morning and/or early evening.

I do have a friend who was only getting 2oz and her dr prescribed her something that has taken her up to 3oz in a week.  She EPs.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time.  I don't think I'd be able to sustain going every hour.  I hope that things get better fast.

Do you eat the oatmeal for breakfast only, or more frequently? I've been having oatmeal like every other day for breakfast. Maybe I should eat it everyday. I also need to drink more water. I try to keep a bottle of water with me at all times, but maybe I am still not drinking enough.
  • Just for breakfast, but everyday.  The cookies also have oatmeal in them and I eat one or two in the afternoon.

I too am bad about the water.  I did read something strange the other day.  I think it was in WTE the first year.  It said that while you needed 8 8oz glasses of water a day, more than 12 would decrease your supply.  I've never seen that anywhere else.

Thats pretty funny because same thing happened to me last night. I went to bed with DD#1 and asked DH to wake me up to pump when he went to bed... well he forgot to wake me up so I went 6 hours without pumping and as I was getting a bottle ready for DD/getting my pump stuff put together I was leaking all over... I already had my pumping bra on and it was leaking all over the floor! Never happened to me before either... sadly, I wish I was able to pump 15oz.. I did get 9 though

  • I didn't pump for 7 hours the other day and I was so uncomfy!!!! I ended up pumping close to 9 ounces. not to mention the fact that the reason I didn't pump was that I was out and wasn't able to pump and as soon as I got home I started leaking so bad I was drenched. I am NEVER going to wait to pump for that long again. I've never been so uncomfy---not even at 39 weeks pregnant!
