Pregnant after IF

BYOP - Bring your own pads

I'm wondering if I should bring my own pads to the hospital for after delivery so I don't have to use their big diaper pads.  Those are so thick and uncomfortable.

Anyone plan on doing this or have asked if its ok?

Re: BYOP - Bring your own pads

  • i've heard they are big and uncomfy but also great b/c they absorb everything.

i bought some maxis for when i get home, but while at the hospital i'll use theirs.

  • Yes! Bring your own. I brought my own and am so glad I did. The day after delivery I started using them. Yes the hospital ones are nice and big but the get bunched up and it is really annoying.

  • I will throw some in my bag. My SIL recommended using their big old pads the first day and then when the flow slows down switching back to a normal overnight pad.

  • I'd use the hospital ones if I were you. You will be bleeding way beyond any period youve ever had (sorry, ick) and you'll want the huge ones! My hospital layered an ice pack under the pad, too which helps a lot with the swelling.

i loved, loved the ice packs and the tucks pads! i used the big pads for about 4 days and then switched to my own.

  • I liked the big diaper pads, but it won't hurt to pack your own.  You don't need to ask or anything just use them if you feel like it.

  • My 2 sisters and a SIL told me to bring my own pads, but that I'll probably stick to the hospital ones since the bleeding is a lot - they also all swear by Tucks, so I plan to bring those as well.  I just want to be sure I have all my options there so that I'm not wishing I had some other "kind" or whatever.  From what I've heard about the bleeding afterwards, you'll end up using all the pads anyways yikes! haha

This was my experience. In addition to bleeding, you will be leaking urine if you're anything like me. I'm not sure you can even buy pads as big as the hospital ones.

  • I brought some overnight pads of my own but ended up using the huge ones from the hospital because my bleeding was so heavy and those were the most comfortable.

  • I loved the ones from the hospital. As others said, you will probably be bleeding so much you will want something huge like that! It won't hurt to bring your own too, though...so you have options if you don't like the hospital ones. I recommend getting the longest ones you can find, though....post-partum bleeding is way different than a period!

  • It is definitely ok to bring your own.  I've seen this on hospital bag lists and after my recent hospital stay and using them, I will certainly be bringing some of my own, so I have the option.  The ones they give you are in fact the size of children's diapers and the adhesive sucks.
