Success after IF

Moms of toddler train lovers!

Can you recommend a train set that would be great for Linc? He has a bit before his 2nd b-day, but the kid is OBSESSED with trains. I was kind of thinking of tracks that click together, or something. We have a wooden set now, and the tracks come apart often, making Lincoln come-apart too!

Maybe even something that is motorized or electric?

This would be the world of Geo-trax.

You can collect sets and connect them all together (even the airplane ones on to the train ones).

Hand held controller moves forward and back.  Easy enough for them to do at this age.  They make cool noises too.  Nice train sound effects without being overly annoying to Mom and Dad.

Be warned... they're pricey.  Consider ebay for a cheaper approach.

Also be warned that if you don't have 2 sets the kids will fight over one controller.... and it's ugly.   With 2 sets they can each control 1 train and as they get older they'll race them to crash into each other.

This is the kinda thing he'll use now but will still want to play with at age 5 so consider it more of a long term investment.  My 5 yr old won't touch the wooden Thomas set but really digs the character geo trax (Bat Man and CARS) so he plays with all of them still.

    Ahhh.... good times in boy-land!

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

  • My nephew has a wooden train set and my sister super glued the tracks together - so that is an option if you don't want to buy a whole new set. I am planning on getting Dillon a step 2 canyon road train table for Christmas - the tracks are built in the table so it never comes undone
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • I'll second the vote for Geo-Trax. DS got a starter set for Christmas when he was 13 months old, and it has been hands-down his favorite toy since then. We've added a lot to it, too. He LOVES his trains. He can click the pieces together on his own and the remote control engines are really fun for him.

(I've even caught DH building new track setups after DS's bedtime--fun for the whole family...)

After 7 failed IUIs, IVF w/ ICSI worked!!

I am thankful every day for my miracle after infertility.

And thrilled to be pregnant again after FET!

    hee hee.

One of my gal pals did the same.  One night she and her DH were lamenting all the cash they'd spent on geo trax and the DH said "I wanna see all of them built together".

They had 6 sets and made a crazy geo trax world that went up over their coffee table, around the chair, you name it.  Covered every inch of their family room.

When the kids woke up they thought Santa had come.  They left their geo trax world built for the whole week and it was all her kids did for a solid week of indoor play.

  • I third the geotrax sets. We have some at Grandma's house and another set at Poppop's house and he loves them. They are exspensive, but ebay has good prices and we have found them on CL and consignment stores too.

    Helarious!

I need to get some of these Geo Trax for Conor...and DH.

  • Thanks ladies! Geo-Trax it is! We will be getting it for his b-day, but good to know about checking out e-bay!

I like that you can add to it too!
