Babies on the Brain

Making the baby wiggly, somewhat AW

My a/s is Monday morning at 8am. I am so excited :) I was planning on having a wild cherry pepsi that morning and hopefully since I've had no caffeine this whole pregnancy that will wake the baby up. Any other wiggly baby tips?

Re: Making the baby wiggly, somewhat AW

  • I had the opposite problem - I had no sugar or caffeine and mine wouldn't stop moving. The normal 45 minute ultrasound took twice that long because she couldn't get a good heart pic/measurement. My back was killing me by the time she was done.

I say let it be - if the baby's in a bad position for a particular shot all it takes is standing up and walking around for a minute to get them to move.

  • Honestly, not a good idea. The point of the a/s is to get accurate measurements of the baby. Too much movement is not a good thing. It could result in having to go back for another appointment to re-do measurements and there's no guarantee that you'll be able to accurately determine gender by doing anything "special"
  • Just eat a normal breakfast before you go. As others have pointed out too much movement is not a good thing. As a side note, I am so glad this post was not about sex.

  • I wouldn't do that..they wont be able to get accurate measurement...all they need to do it poke around a little bit..or have you empty your bladder as need to be get the baby wiggly if he/she is being lazy and they need different positions for the measurements.
  • I wouldn't try and do anything specific to try and get a wiggly baby.  I didn't, but he was wiggling anyway and I ended up having to have two 90 minute a/s appointments to get all the measurements they needed.

  • Just eat a normal breakfast for the reasons posted above. I had a very wiggly baby and I had to have a second scan done at 28w because they couldn't get all the measurements.

  • They have tricks to just to wake up a lazy baby. Lucas was always a lazy baby during his u/s and NSTs. They would poke him or use a vibrator thingy to "shock" him to move around.
