Ok... so a girl I friended on facebook recently has this as her status:
"I HATE THIS FAMILY I REALLY REALLY DO I WISH THEY WOULD LEAVE CAUSE I WOULDN'T CARE I'M DONE WITH THEM ALL MY SISTER CAN TAKE OF HER OWN KIDS I'M NOT HELPING HER ONE BIT! I'M LEAVIN THIS STATE AND NEVER COMING BACK AT ALL!"
Then she commented this:
" I can't take no more I'm about to cut my self I don't care if I get taken away. I am done crying every night and I'm tired of my lazy ass mother not helping me she don't care about me. No one does!"
How does one appropriately respond?
Re: Facebook suicide threats. What to do?
Usually, if someone posts a public suicide threat like that they're just looking for attention and are just bluffing.
I don't know this person though, so if you think they're serious, I'd point out the status to someone who is closer to them, just so maybe someone can talk her down.
This. I wouldn't post any comments. Besides, odds are she's FB friends with all her family and they are seeing that. Be prepared to see a sh!tstorm of comments from them.
Life with Blog
This was my first thought, too. Usually if someone is really considering it, they tend to keep it to themselves.
This. Although before I de-friended her, I would say something. I'd probably say something like "Your thinking of taking your own life?, Please go talk to someone and get some help".
