Parenting after 35

15 Month Stats and New Siggy Pics

Head 47.50 cm 59%, Height 33 in 92%, weight 26.00 73%.

Overall, Charlie is doing great.  He is now giving me and DH kisses, and he is having explosive tantrums.  The doctor is a little bit concerned because he is not using any words yet.  He said a few word like mama, dada, and ball around 9 months, but now he is just using his own babbling language.  Keep your fingers crossed that those words start coming soon!

  • Gracie was only saying those words as well at that age. The Dr. wasn't concerned at all. Gracie still babbles all the time but she is using more words and two word phrases. It will come in time!

  • Yay Charlie!

And I wouldn't be too worried. DS stalled at 5 or so words fore the loooooongest time then slowly started to pick up steam.

  • Thanks! I guess I should rephrase that a bit.  He is now using NO words at all.  I thought maybe he regressed a bit when he started walking...

  • He is so cute!  Love the picture with Mommy.  I'm sure he'll be talking up a storm before you know it!

  • Hmm, unusual that you had a 15 mon check up, as our pedi does a 8 wk, 4 mo, 6 mo. 9 mo.12 mo 18 mo and 2 year.  After that it's annual. You must have good insurance!

If the pedi is not concerned about the language regression, then relax.  If it continues to his 18 mos check up, have the doctor look into it some more. My DS wasn't talking at that age, and now he sings during suppertime.  Pretty funny sometimes.

  • Great stats, and I love his hair! I don't think J. was saying much at 15 months either, but now he is fine.

We were concerned with DD1 not using many words at her 18 month appt.  The pedi was not too concerned about her using words, but asked questions like "Does she understand and respond appropriately when you talk to her?" and "Does she make her wishes known with means such as pointing and grunting?"  She was doing both of those things, so he wasn't concerned.  She finally started really expanding her vocabulary and using more two and three word phrases after she turned two.

    DD1 is 3, DD2 is 1.
  • i saw your updated siggy pics in another thread and couldn't believe it was the same baby from the last pics! wow, he's a little man now! soooo cute!

i wouldn't worry so much just yet about the talking thing- especially if he's showing that he's comprehending a lot. JMO though.

  • Wow!  What a total cutie pie!  I am very jealous of all that hair.  Noah is getting some but he's still pretty much a baldy like his sister was.
