I am 40, DH has motility, morph issues. We conceived our 21 month old son naturally with no problems naturally on the first try - no special vitamins, nothing.I am taking a break form my IVF cycle process for a month.
Did any of you use acupuncture or some other vitamin/ supplement/activity/ thought pattern to assist with getting pregnant. Do you believe acupuncture really works?
Re: Acupuncture or something else ?
I used accupuncture on my BFN IVF/FET cycles, but ended up dropping it b/c the cost was high. I loved it, but it was taking a toll on our pocket book and I wasn't seeing the benefit (plus, it was adding stress trying to fit in even more appointments while working!)
On our BFP cycle, I didn't do anything special. We basically only did that cycle b/c it was paid for as part of our package and we never thought it would work b/c the other 19 cycles failed. We decided to just live life and see what happens. I worked out and still did my yoga (which I stopped yoga on other cycles) and even drank wine right up until the night before transfer. Go figure - breaking all the rules led to my BFP.

I did acupuncture before I started fertility treatments, and I'm not sure if it would have helped if I had stuck with it.
I did notice that while I did it (about 3 months) that along with the dietary changes and herbs, my menstrual cramps were much less significant.
Started TTC 05.08
Me: Stage II endo, borderline high FSH
DH: perfect
1 lap, 5 IUIs = 4 BFNs and 1 c/p
2 IVFs, 2 FETs = 1 BFN, 1 c/p, 1 ectopic and finally a sticky BFP in May 2011!
1 FET in Aug 2013 = BFP!
I did acupuncture after my m/c leading up to and during my first IVF cycle. I was also taking some chinese herbs that were given to me by the acupuncturist, but I stopped taking the herbs once I started stims.
During that cycle, I had 9 eggs, of which 0 fertilized. I promptly stopped with the acupuncture and did nothing else out of the ordinary for 6 months.
After my third IVF cycle (which was cancelled because my body ovulated when it wasn't supposed to, thanks for nothing lupron) I started taking drum lessons. No lie here - I went out and bout a full kit complete with a cowbell. Taking lessons and practicing at home gave me something to do to take my mind off of IF for a bit, and I actually felt in control of something for once.
I got pregnant in January on what was going to be our last IVF attempt with my own eggs, and I continued to take drum lessons up until about a month ago when it became too uncomfortable to play for an extended period of time. I don't know if "drum lessons" themselves had anything to do with me getting pregnant or not, but it did help with my stress levels, and it improved my mood. I would say to do whatever works for you, weather it be acupuncture, massages, getting your nails done, or just being able make loud noises and hit things. If you can find something that helps you not feel lost in the IF process, try to do it as much as you can.
I did acupuncture while on stims and then had a treatment an hour before and an hour after my ET. I went weekly leading up to my ER and then stopped after my ET. We think it helped us a ton! I also use visual imagery during my treatments.(I used to use imagery when I was dancing (ballet) and while I went through rehab for knee surgery..it helped me focus on the out come).
I'm completely convinced that focusing on the image of a baby or fetus in my case combined with the pulse of energy from the acupuncture led to our twins. I just made sure I had a great feeling about my acupuncturist, if had not I would have not done it. Good luck I hope things work this cycle for you!!!!
