It will never be pronounced Katrina at first stab, so if you prefer that pronunciation, I would just go with that spelling. I am not a fan of it, either pronunciation.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

It's pretty, but my first thought was that it was a made-up name. There are so many beautiful Gaelic names out there that are a bit more well-known. I'd go with one of them.
mm 2/17/11 * dd born 4/20/12 * bo 1/3/14 * edd 1/21/ 1/15
I know a Catriona (ka-TREE-na), and I think it's a really pretty name. However, she does get ka-tree-OH-na all the time when people read her name, so you'd have to be prepared for that.
I also really like Isolde. Have you considered that for a first name?
For those of you who don't know, Catriona is the Gaelic form of Katherine.
Definately pronounced like the bolded. Love the combo with Isolde, they're pretty. You hear the name in our area every so often, so not super common, but not unheard of either. It's also the name of a former Olympic speed skater from here, so I have positive associations with the name.
I love the name. I think it is different, yet traditional. I prefer KA-TREE-NA, but I like that KA-TREE-OH-NA is diferent The latter would be the more obvious way to pronounce it. And just because some people haven't heard the name before, doesn't ean you have to go with a more popular Gaelic name.
I would never look at that name and prounce it Ka-tree-na I get that its gaelic and don't dislike the name just saying if you prounce it that way you'll have to correct people a lot

If you pronounced the "o", you would be saying it wrong.
I think it's pretty, but I think Catriona Isolde is a mouthful that no one would be able to say correctly.
According to behindthename.com both pronunciations are acceptable. Where do you get your information?
This. I also thought it was made up at first glance.
I know it's not Gaelic, but I like Caterina best.
I'd pronounce it ka-tree-O-na
mainly cause of the o in there..
I'm a fan of Ekaterina myself..
Agreed. I'm also surprised no one has ever seen this name. I think Katrina is an Anglicazation of Catriona.

I don't think it looks made up, but I don't like it at all (though I'm also not a Katherine fan).
Especially using the ka-TREE-o-na pronunciation, I think it's just too much. It comes off a little clunky and awkward.

Love Isolde!
I agree. With the O sound in there it's very awkward to say. I'd go with Catrina or Katrina.
You forgot an "i" - it's spelled Caitriona.
I think it is beautiful, and I would pronounce it the correct way in Irish (Cat-CHREEN-a).
If English speakers can get the hang of Sean and Seamus than I think they can deal with pronouncing Caitriona correctly.
Nms, but it's your baby, so pick what you love.
