What are the best strollers and car seats?

Hi all we are shopping for stroller and car seat, i like how the quinny works and looks. I will be doing a lot of walking with baby and our dog so i need a great stroller. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much

  • We have a Guzzie and Guss 042 and it is fantastic.

It comes with a basinet, so you can lay your newborn down as well as pluck your carseat on it as well.

  • It depends on a lot of things. For the car seat, what is your budget and vehicle? And for the stroller, it depends again on budget. Do you mall walk, or walk outdoors? If you are outdoors a lot, are you on sidewalks or bike paths; or is it rougher terrain with obstacles, gravel, snow or mud?

I have 3 strollers. I have a Quinney Zapp for travelling (flying), but it is only good for older babies to toddlers as it doesn't adapt for car seats and doesn't recline. The wheels are really small and plastic, they don't do well on anything but smooth surfaces. It's also not great for cold weather, the plastic is prone to cracking.

I have a Phil and Ted's Sport, which is great for everyday. It has larger wheels, a good size basket, and can adapt for the infant seats for a few brands. I also have the second seat if I'm going to be out long and my 3 year old will need to ride. It also lays flat for the infant stage (which is awesome for long walks, as they aren't supposed to be in the infant seat for anything but short trips, ie 30 mins). It is really good on most surfaces, is light and has a ton of accessories (even cold weather gear). The only down side is it isn't a jogging stroller.

I also have a Chariot Carrier Cougar 2 for running and biking, but I am only using it for walking until S is big enough for it to be used for bike/run (about 1 yr). I love this stroller, but it's huge. So I don't take it in the car often.

I don't know if any of these will work for you or if they are your style, but I highly recommend purchasing the best stroller you can afford. My first stroller was a Graco Literider and DH had so many parts on that broken within the first three months of having it. Wheels (chipped and cracked in the cold), hinge covers, the lock for when it folds and the swivel lock on the front all went!

Maybe head to a baby store and try out what they have. FWIW, I also like the BJ City Select, Bugaboo Chameleon, and Uppa Baby Vista.

Car seats (Infant): Graco Snugride 35, Britax Chaperone, Chicco Keyfit

Car seats (convertable): Sunshine Kids Radian and Britax Marathon or Boulevard

  • Well so went with the britax roundabout 55 for the car seat and a bob revolution se for the stroller. We have a dog that i/we walk everyday so i wanted an awesome stroller for off road. We decided not to go with a travel system as i figure baby will out grow the infant see rather quickly and with her being due first week in October and we live in Canada i figured i wouldn't get much use out of it during the winter months and then she could be to big come spring. So instead the brixtax will stay in the car and last for her until she is 55lbs and then it will still be good to use for the next baby its a 2011 model. So until i can put her in the stroller the recommend 6-8 weeks when laying in the 70% recline position i will use a sling to carry her. The stroller works great in snow ( so i have heard) or i can keep her under my jacket in the sling. Both items are pricey ones but we really looked at the safety ratings and the reviews on them. We plan on having two kids so both will work for the other one too.
