So I have always had small, rolling veins. It's a total b%#* to get blood drawn for me and I warn every single lab tech about it and most of them have at least minor problems accessing veins or getting enough blood and today was no exception...
The tech didn't fully believe me until she couldn't really find a suitable vein on either arm and had to settle for an "alright" one. Sure enough, she didn't get as much blood as she needed but thankfully she said she could use what she got instead of poking me again.
The plus side? After at least 10-15 years of warning lab techs about it, this woman actually gave me tips on how to make my veins not suck so much. She said to drink lots of water and try to get some physical activity in with the arms beforehand, such as lifting small weights or even just bottles of water or doing arm circles.
I figured I would share what she told me in case any of you ladies had stubborn veins like I do.
(Also, I had heard somewhere before that water worked but after rushing my kindergartener this morning to get ready so she would be to school on time and me to my 8 am appointment on time, I didn't get much water in my system)
