  • I have never gotten it in the past and have heard of many people that get sick after getting it.  Not worth the risk for me.

  • Nope. Never got it. I know too many people who have gotten it, then gotten sick right after. Plus they are too many strains of the flu so what good is the shot going to do? Eh...Stick out tongue
  • I've never gotten it.  I don't know my body's reaction to the flu shot, and now is not the time to find out!

  • Never got it in the past and don't plan to get it in the future. I am not in high risk situations to get the flu and I am worried about the possible side effects. I definitely won't be getting now that I'm pregnant. I question the possible side effects it could have on the baby and I just don't think it's worth the risk.

  • Never got it, doubt I ever will - I don't feel its necessary for me:

*never get the flu, hardly ever get sick
*am not around alot of people
*prefer to work on healthy lifestyle and good immunity
*not a fan of the over use of medications etc
*its way too marketed to go and get one - you can get one anywhere it seems these days but thats all by people selling them
*my chiro recommends not getting it any they are the only one not profiting or loosing regardless of my choice- they have helped me in many areas in which a medical doctor, lots of tests and medicines didn't. and they have never had anything but my best interests at heart. they have actually taken the time to figure out how I could see them less and have a better quality of life that has helped w/ problems the medical docs couldn't figure out.

  • I talked to my midwife about it and she said to wait until her office gets it in.  I've never gotten it in the past, so I'm a little concerned about getting it this time.  I'm still on the fence about it, since I don't know how my body will react.  I want to make sure LO is looked out for, but I don't want to get sick from it either and miss precious time away from work (since I'll be using my sick and vacation time for maternity leave).

  • Nope.
Lots of reasons - didn't get one with DD. Flu strand change all the time and aren't guaranteed to be covered under your shot. I would rather build up my immune system. Mercury in shots.

  • I just got mine at my OB appt yesterday so I was curious about what peoples reasons would be...
If you're worried about mercury you can find a mercury-free vaccine. That's what my OB had. Also, you don't get the flu from the flu vax...

  • Not getting one.

I'm leary of getting vaccines while pregnant.  I also go the flu shot last November, they are supposed to last at least a year so I should be covered anyway.   Besides, like a pp said, there are so many flu strains and the flu shot only covers a few, so there is still no guarantee that the shot will cover you.

  • I don't get it normally, and I won't get it now. I just don't see the point. And I'm also not a fan of over-medicating and vaccines are a part of that. I don't ever remember getting the flu and I work in health care.
  • I am getting it but I've heard that the multi-dose (non single use) flu vaccine the still contains thimerosol (preservative with mercury).  I'm going to ask for either the single vial version of the vaccine or the nasal version, both which are mercury-free. They change the flu shot each year so that it covers the most predicted strains that season free.  Crazy stuff can happen when you get the flu while pregnant.

If I am correct, they will ONLY give pregnant women and kids the single dose flu vaccine.

  • I won't be. I have a wonderful natural immune system that rarely gets ill, I don't want to mess with that.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe pregnant women are not suppsed to get the nasal dose because it contains the LIVE flu virus instead of the dead one.

I believe you are correct, Legal.

  • I have never had it before and have't had the flu in 8 years.

  • I'm not...if I get the flu - I will be fine (I've had it before) - too many toxins in the flu shots & I don't want to expose myself to them (let alone my unborn fetus)...I've never gotten the flu shot & I'm 35 and only had it once (when I was 22). Plus, there are so many strains of the flu (hundreds) the shot only protects you from few strains...no great odds IMO.
