We started solids 3 weeks ago and started with all veggies besides some chicken and prunes. P has loved everything we have given him - even broccoli and eggplant. So my question for those of you who started with veggies and held off on fruit is this. How long did you wait before adding some fruits? I am having fun giving him all these veggies but also feel kind of guilty for holding out so long.

Re: For Those Who Held Off On Fruits...
We didn't really do purees at all but I agree with nikki, why hold out? Is there something new I've missed in the last 2 years? I'd think at this point there's certainly no harm in introducing fruits - solids before 1 year are for practice, not nutrition, so exposing your LO to as many tastes as possible is a good idea. Of course when he's a toddler he will probably only eat beige food like all the other toddlers LOL

Ah, yes, this. Well, I guess that's fair although fruit's natural sweetness isn't really a concern to me but I can understand that. Is your LO FF or BF? I only ask because BM is really sweet so on that theory DD would never eat a veggie ever and truth is, so long as it's beige, she's alright. She likes cauliflower.

My pedi recommended I introduce veggies first then fruits because of this reason.
We only lasted a week or two before adding fruits in and they eat everything with the same gusto! GL
Okay. I get it. I'm super weird about what I'll let the kids eat. I cook everything so I know exactly what's in it, but I never really worried about the sugar in fruit. I just want them to enjoy eating healthy, whole foods. But I can see why you'd be afraid that he'd favor peaches over broccoli.
Strangely, both of my kids are more into savory foods than "sweet" ones. Maybe it's all the weird stuff I ate when I was pregnant?
