Had another checkup. Measuring 34 weeks at 31 weeks and baby's weight measures in the 95th percentile. Was sent to the lab to redo the glucose 1 hour.... Either I have gest. diabetes or it's just genes making this a pretty big baby. My Dr. informed me that they don't do c-sections for big babies unless they are over 11lbs. If I have gest. diabetes, they will do c-sections if the baby is 9.5+ lbs. (Of course they will do a c-section if there's any other concerns - but these are their guidelines for a healthy normal pregnancy). Sucks to be me if I have to vaginally deliver an 11 pound baby One day at a time!

Good luck! Maybe you're just a week or two ahead of where you think you are? Either way, babe will come out at the right size, and you can do it! Hard to believe it's getting so close!
Your doctor wont induce due to size? My doctor will induce if baby gets to 9lbs. And my friend had to be induced with both of her sons because they were both over 9lbs.

I fully believe your body can birth your baby, regardless of size. My aunt has had 3 children over 11 pounds vaginally... The last one was 12lbs 11 oz. Hurts to think about, but it can be done.

Your body usually grows a baby you can push out! Of course there are other factors such as gestational diabetes and a husband/wife combo that are of totally different sizes BUT birth would be a very flawed system if babies were too big to make it out on their own! I can't tell you how many c-sections and inductions for "large for gestational age" I've been a nurse for where the baby comes out a perfect 7 or so pounds. Ultrasounds are often VERY inaccurate. Don't stress yourself out!

DS was supposed to be a "big baby", and he was a little peanut at 6lbs 15oz! It really is an inexact science....
Thanks for the posts ladies! I fully believe the body is built to birth babies - but it's just a scary thought if you're already a bit scared of labour.... well a lot scared!
Noah weighed 4lbs on the nose at my 29 week ultrasound... so not sure what he is now at 31wks.

I'm nervous too! My mother-in-law said that my husband weighed 11 lbs when he was born! I was a small baby (6 lbs) and am pretty petite now, so I'm hoping our baby won't be too large. At our 30 week u/s, the tech estimated that she was 2 lb 15 oz, so it seems like she will be on the smaller side. Still you never know because my husband was such a big baby!
