Ok what do I need to be "in style" for fall?

Assume I don't have any stylish basics (cause I don't). What do I need? Are there trends that you have noticed already? What pieces do I need to make some decent outfits? I already have some fabulous cognac wedge heel knee high boots but that's it (thanks Laney). I really need some updating since I've been pg the last two years. Thank you

  • I seem to be seeing a lot of layering and the tanks/tops have some decor...I don't describe it too well. But the have flowers and such. It's cute.

  • I consider stylish basics to be things that will never go out of style.  Most important - a great pair of jeans that fit well and flatter your shape.  I pair that with a nice black fitted blazer with a trendy or embellished tank underneath and cute heels.

A good blazer is great, especially for hiding imperfections while still giving you shape.

I also like a nice patterned wrap dress (again, flattering on imperfect bodies) with tall boots

I am not a big trend follower so I honestly don't even know what's "in"

  • I don't think my style is ever "in" persay, I dress a bit retro, so maybe I'm not the best judge. BUT I think cowl necks and big chunky scarves are in this year. I like bringing attention to my face so this is a fun trend! Plus you can add color with those scarfs!

Yes, I love how scarves look when I see them on people!  I feel like I can never do it right though lol.  But I love the look and they are definitely in style right now

I also see a lot of tunic style tops with leggings - and scarves!

  • Hi, from the blogs I've read and magazines I can tell that flare jeans are huge this year. Skinnies are still in. Cardigans with prints or colors are huge. In the fall I always see cords. Dresses are in always. Florals or print ones especially. Army jackets are big for a casual option. Stripes have been and are still popular. You could try picking up lucky magazine. I've been reading it for years. Also check out fashion blogs. Most of all though is wear what you like and makes you comfortable. I hope I helped and I'm sorry for lack of formatting. Im on my iPhone.

This. Also you can't go wrong with a classic button down top.

  • In this fall: dolman sleeves, cowl necks, cropped sweaters, heavier weight maxi dresses, and riding boots.

I say buy timeless items and don't worry too much about what's in style!

    BFP #3 10/6/12, EDD 6/16/12., Matilda born 6/17/13.
  • I am seeing a lot of tall boots with jeans and big chunky cardigans. Also a lot of military style. Chunky gold jewelry, scarves, wedge heels and flats.

It seems like not much has changed since last fall other than the military stuff.

  • Awesome. I am going shopping soon (alone) with these things in mind. I'm due for some new things but I do have a few pieces that were mentioned so that's awesome.
