Car Seat + Leather seat = ?

We have DS's seat in the car, and it leaves marks on the seats. Is there something that I can get to put between the seat and the carseat/base? It seems like it might make the seat less secure. We do have the latch system if that makes a difference.

DH put a yoga mat under ours. It's thin, no slip and protective.

There are seat protectors. I don't have one, but my gf has two in her car for her kids seats. She said they have been great. I don't know why we don't get one...

I think I have seen them at Target in the car seat aisle. And I would assume you could get them at BRU as well.

It has holes for the latch system and even some extra storage. Has worked great for us the last 2 years.

They sell aftermarket car seat protectors, but the inspectors/experts on carseats will advise you to absolutely not use them. The seats are not tested with the protectors under them, and using them could compromise the safety of your seat.

We have leather seats and through two different carseats (infant and convertible) over more than 4 years have never had a permanent mark when the seat is removed. There is an impression, but it fills in and becomes invisible if the carseat is left out of the car for more than a few minutes.

I know people say they aren't safe but per the instruction booklet that came with my Graco infant seat in 07, Graco and Evenflo they are fine. We were in a car accident and Evenflo sent the insurance company a letter stating that our seat was installed properly and per their specs and the insurance company replaced the seat even though there was no visible damage with no argument. They actually never even asked to see seat or anything about it, I just got the letter as a precaution. I was stopped and rear ended at a high speed and pushed into the car in front of me and the seat did not budge.

Our inspector recommended NOT using them in DH's brand spanking new truck. He was a bit miffed...but It is a truck

I got our installation checked today, and this is pretty much exactly what the inspector said. He did put a piece of non-skid rug liner under it, though. Think the spongey/meshy stuff you would cut off the roll. I'm not sure why that is considered safer?

This is the exact same experience we had with the person that installed and inspected our bases. She said not to use a protector that has not been crash tested. The only one she was aware of that was crash test rated was made by Summer Infant.

She also added the non-skid mat material between my husband's base and his seat to keep it from slipping against the leather.

This - our local sheriff's office added a non-skid (very flat though) liner under our car seat to make it have less "give" against our leather seats. Other than that, though, I wouldn't put anything under the base. And if our local sheriff's office hadn't added our non-skid liner, I never in a million years would have done it either.

We bought this one from BRU and the box says it's crash tested, which is the reason we got this one over the other 2. It was more expensive, but if it's safer, I'll take it.
