s/o singing to baby

What crazy songs do you sing?

I always sing the "don't pee on me" song when changing a diaper.

Re: s/o singing to baby

  • My fave has been "where's the poop?"  that I made up when he started going a few days between poops and I was concerned.  I sang that one a LOT..

ETA:  Most of the other ones I've made up have to do with 'why won't you sleep?" and how cute LO is.

  • My DD LOVES being sang too. It makes her so happy and will quiet her right down if she's being fussy. I have a few made up songs I sing pretty often, but I always sing to her what I'm doing. I'm sure I sound like an idiot but she likes it, so whatever. :)

  • His favorite is mama loves x and ba ba black sheep. I sing whatever I'm doing and when I'm too tired to be creative I sing Christmas songs because I know the words. I have horrible time so I need easy songs :(

  • I sing everything from Bob Dylan, Menudo, Simon and Garfunkel, Rufus Wainwright, Queen, BEP, Regina Spektor, Carla Bruni, Adele, old hispanic songs and italian tarantellas that my FIL taught me, old french lullabies... It's hilarious when i sing that he tries to sing with me, laughing and screeching.  His bedtime routine includes rockabye lullabies, with radiohead, rolling stones, nirvana and gnr being his faves.  not so much acdc, maybe because i dont know the words to most of those songs so i dont quietly sing them while nursing him... BUT, for those songs, i am always making up some of the missing lyrics, and always including his name in the song... i wonder if he grows up when he realizes that his name isn't included in any of them...

I also try to sign some of the words to the song, and he tries to move his hands as well (albeit very uncoordinated) .  but i may be signing wrong... hmm

I knew I loved you.. Oh, My Gosh Becky look at her butt.

I sing "Please don't pee on Mommy" as well it's his favorite song I think. Pretty much everything we do now activity wise has a song.

  • I've been working on the railroad is a big one. There are a few hymns I sing as a lullaby like How Great Thou Art. There are also some random ones I've made up. She loves when I sing.

She just generally loves music. She rocks out on the piano pounding away on the keys and we got a video of her "playing" DH's electric guitar. She was really just grabbing onto the neck of the guitar and jumping at the noise it would make. It was pretty epic looking though.

  • I don't remember the name, but LO loves the song John Denver sings on the Muppets Christmas album "It's in every one of us..."

He also likes Ren and Stimpy's "Happy Happy Joy Joy", "BINGO", "You are my sunshine", "Silent Night", and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

Apparently, my Mom used to sing "99 bottles of beer on the wall" to me!  She said it was sometimes the only one she could remember the lyrics of at 2 in the morning, and also it was repetitive.

  • Oh, and he smiles like crazy when we sing his name, doing the Heart Warm Touch from Itsy Bitsy Yoga dvd.  This is the last thing we do right before naps and bed every night.

  • DH likes to sing (to the tune of Lullaby and Goodnight) "Go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep little Noelle. You are tired and so are we, so it's time to go to sleep!" It makes me laugh because it is so sweet and so desperate, haha.

We sing "This Old Man" counting song a lot, even more so when she was really little. So I used to sing "knick-knack pattywhack" about 100 times a day.

I also sing the "I'm not gonna poop in the tub" song from The Simpsons which makes me laugh hysterically. Here is a sound clip of the song.

Awesome. I'm totally going to do this. Maybe I'll change "beer" to "juice" or something though. Wink
